¹⁷ I see him, but not now;
I look at him, but not near;
A star shall appear from Jacob,
^(A)A scepter shall rise from Israel,
^(B)And shall smash the ^[a]forehead of Moab,
And overcome all the sons of Sheth.

¹⁴ They will ^(A)swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines on the ^(B)west;
Together they will ^(C)plunder the ^[a]people of the east;
^[b]They will possess ^(D)Edom and ^(E)Moab,
And the sons of Ammon will be ^[c]subject to them.
