³³ And your sons shall be shepherds for ^(A)forty years in the wilderness, and they will ^[a]suffer for your ^[b]unfaithfulness, until your corpses come to an end in the wilderness. ³⁴ According to the ^(B)number of days which you spied out the land, forty days, for every day you shall bear your ^[c]guilt a year, even forty years, and you will know My opposition.

^13 (A)So Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the entire generation of those who had done evil in the sight of Yahweh was brought to an end.

¹⁴ Now the ^[a]time that it took for us to come from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed over the ^[b]brook Zered was ^(A)thirty-eight years, until ^(B)all the generation of the men of war came to an end from within the camp, as ^(C)Yahweh had sworn to them.
