Numbers 12:4-9

New International Version

⁴At once the Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, “Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them went out. ⁵Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud;^(A) he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward, ⁶he said, “Listen to my words:

“When there is a prophet among you,
    I, the Lord, reveal^(B) myself to them in visions,^(C)
    I speak to them in dreams.^(D)
⁷But this is not true of my servant Moses;^(E)
    he is faithful in all my house.^(F)
⁸With him I speak face to face,
    clearly and not in riddles;^(G)
    he sees the form of the Lord.^(H)
Why then were you not afraid
    to speak against my servant Moses?”^(I)

⁹The anger of the Lord burned against them,^(J) and he left them.^(K)

⁴^(A)Suddenly the Lord said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” So the three came out. ⁵^(B)Then the Lord came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward. ⁶Then He said,

“Hear now My words:
If there is a prophet among you,
I, the Lord, make Myself known to him ^(C)in a vision;
I speak to him ^(D)in a dream.
⁷Not so with ^(E)My servant Moses;
^(F)He is faithful in all ^(G)My house.
⁸I speak with him ^(H)face to face,
Even ^(I)plainly,^[a] and not in ^[b]dark sayings;
And he sees ^(J)the form of the Lord.
Why then ^(K)were you not afraid
To speak against My servant Moses?”
