De dochters van Selofchad
36 De familiehoofden van Gilead, een afstammeling van Machir uit de stam van Manasse, kwamen bij Mozes en de leiders van Israël met het volgende verzoek: 2 ‘De Here gaf u opdracht het land met behulp van het lot onder de Israëlieten te verdelen en het erfdeel van onze broeder Selofchad aan zijn dochters te geven. 3 Maar als zij trouwen met iemand van een andere stam, gaat hun land ook over in het bezit van die andere stam. Op die manier zal het grondgebied van onze stam kleiner worden en 4 in het jubeljaar zou het definitief bij die stam worden ingelijfd.’
5 Mozes antwoordde in het openbaar en gaf hun de aanwijzingen van de Here door: ‘De mannen van de stam van Jozef hebben gelijk. 6 Dit is wat de Here verder heeft bevolen over de dochters van Selofchad: “Laten zij trouwen met wie zij willen, zolang het maar iemand van hun eigen stam is. 7 Op die manier zal geen land van de ene stam bij de andere stam terechtkomen, want het erfdeel van elke stam moet blijven zoals door het lot is bepaald. 8 De meisjes van de stammen van Israël die hebben geërfd, moeten binnen hun eigen stam trouwen zodat hun grond het stambezit niet verlaat. 9 Zo zal geen enkel erfdeel van de ene bij de andere stam terechtkomen.” ’
10 De dochters van Selofchad deden wat de Here door Mozes had bevolen. 11,12 Deze meisjes—Machla, Tirsa, Chogla, Milka en Noa—trouwden met mannen uit hun eigen stam van Manasse, de zoon van Jozef. Zo bleef hun erfdeel in bezit van de stam.
13 Dit zijn de wetten en voorschriften die de Here de Israëlieten via Mozes gaf, terwijl zij hun kamp hadden opgeslagen in de vlakte van Moab langs de rivier de Jordaan, tegenover Jericho.

36 Llegaron los príncipes de los padres de la familia de Galaad hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, de las familias de los hijos de José; y hablaron delante de Moisés y de los príncipes, jefes de las casas paternas de los hijos de Israel, 2 y dijeron: Jehová mandó a mi señor que por sorteo diese la tierra a los hijos de Israel en posesión; también ha mandado Jehová a mi señor, que dé la posesión de Zelofehad nuestro hermano a sus hijas.(A) 3 Y si ellas se casaren con algunos de los hijos de las otras tribus de los hijos de Israel, la herencia de ellas será así quitada de la herencia de nuestros padres, y será añadida a la herencia de la tribu a que se unan; y será quitada de la porción de nuestra heredad. 4 Y cuando viniere el jubileo de los hijos de Israel, la heredad de ellas será añadida a la heredad de la tribu de sus maridos; así la heredad de ellas será quitada de la heredad de la tribu de nuestros padres.
5 Entonces Moisés mandó a los hijos de Israel por mandato de Jehová, diciendo: La tribu de los hijos de José habla rectamente. 6 Esto es lo que ha mandado Jehová acerca de las hijas de Zelofehad, diciendo: Cásense como a ellas les plazca, pero en la familia de la tribu de su padre se casarán, 7 para que la heredad de los hijos de Israel no sea traspasada de tribu en tribu; porque cada uno de los hijos de Israel estará ligado a la heredad de la tribu de sus padres. 8 Y cualquiera hija que tenga heredad en las tribus de los hijos de Israel, con alguno de la familia de la tribu de su padre se casará, para que los hijos de Israel posean cada uno la heredad de sus padres, 9 y no ande la heredad rodando de una tribu a otra, sino que cada una de las tribus de los hijos de Israel estará ligada a su heredad.
10 Como Jehová mandó a Moisés, así hicieron las hijas de Zelofehad. 11 Y así Maala, Tirsa, Hogla, Milca y Noa, hijas de Zelofehad, se casaron con hijos de sus tíos paternos. 12 Se casaron en la familia de los hijos de Manasés, hijo de José; y la heredad de ellas quedó en la tribu de la familia de su padre.
13 Estos son los mandamientos y los estatutos que mandó Jehová por medio de Moisés a los hijos de Israel en los campos de Moab, junto al Jordán, frente a Jericó.

36 Un día, los jefes del grupo familiar de Galaad, que pertenecía a la tribu de Manasés, fueron a hablar con Moisés. Delante de los jefes de las tribus de Israel le dijeron:
2 «Dios te ordenó que repartieras territorios a los israelitas por sorteo. Los terrenos de nuestro familiar Selofhad tú se los diste a las hijas que él tuvo. 3 Sin embargo, nos preocupa que ellas se casen con hombres de otra tribu. Porque entonces, los terrenos que eran de ellas y de nuestra tribu pasarán a ser de la tribu de los hombres con quienes ellas se casen. Nosotros perderíamos parte del territorio que tú nos diste. 4 Así, cuando llegue el año de liberación,[a] ellos se quedarán para siempre con nuestros terrenos. Y nuestra tribu perderá parte del territorio que le tocó».
5 Dios le dijo a Moisés lo que debía hacer. Entonces Moisés les dijo a los israelitas:
«Los de la tribu de Manasés tienen razón. 6-9 Dios me dijo que las hijas de Selofhad pueden elegir al hombre con el que quieran casarse, siempre y cuando ese hombre sea de una de las familias de su propia tribu. Eso mismo debe hacerse en todas las tribus: Si alguna mujer ha recibido el terreno de su familia, debe casarse con un hombre de su misma tribu. De esta manera, los terrenos de una tribu no pasarán a ser propiedad de otra tribu. Todas las tribus conservarán el mismo territorio que les tocó desde el principio».
10-11 Entonces Mahlá, Tirsá, Hoglá, Milcá y Noá, que eran las hijas de Selofhad, hicieron lo que Dios les ordenó por medio de Moisés, y se casaron con sus primos, 12 que eran de la tribu de Manasés. Así los terrenos de ellas siguieron siendo de la tribu de su padre.
13 Éstas fueron las órdenes que Dios les dio a los israelitas por medio de Moisés, cuando estaban en las llanuras de Moab, junto al río Jordán y frente a la ciudad de Jericó.

36 Now the chief fathers of the families of the (A)children of Gilead the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near and (B)spoke before Moses and before the leaders, the chief fathers of the children of Israel. 2 And they said: (C)“The Lord commanded my lord Moses to give the land as an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel, and (D)my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters. 3 Now if they are married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then their inheritance will be (E)taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and it will be added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry; so it will be taken from the lot of our inheritance. 4 And when (F)the Jubilee of the children of Israel comes, then their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry; so their inheritance will be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.”
5 Then Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the Lord, saying: (G)“What the tribe of the sons of Joseph speaks is right. 6 This is what the Lord commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, ‘Let them [a]marry whom they think best, (H)but they may marry only within the family of their father’s tribe.’ 7 So the inheritance of the children of Israel shall not change hands from tribe to tribe, for every one of the children of Israel shall (I)keep the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. 8 And (J)every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel shall be the wife of one of the family of her father’s tribe, so that the children of Israel each may possess the inheritance of his fathers. 9 Thus no inheritance shall change hands from one tribe to another, but every tribe of the children of Israel shall keep its own inheritance.”
10 Just as the Lord commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad; 11 (K)for Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to the sons of their father’s brothers. 12 They were married into the families of the children of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of their father’s family.
13 These are the commandments and the judgments which the Lord commanded the children of Israel by the hand of Moses (L)in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho.
