誓いを立てるときの規定
30 1-2 モーセは、族長を集めて言いました。「主に誓ったことは必ず守りなさい。何かをする、あるいはやめると誓ったら、そのとおり実行しなければならない。主がそう命じておられる。
3-4 ただ、結婚前でまだ父親の家にいる女性の場合は違う。そういう女性が誓いを立て、それを破ったら罰せられてもかまわないと言った場合、父親の同意が必要となる。そのことを聞いて、父親が何も言わなければ、誓いはそのまま有効である。 5 しかし、父親が認めなかったり、罰が重すぎると考えたときは、それだけで無効になる。ただし、そのことを聞いた日のうちに、はっきり『認めない』と言わなければならない。父親が認めなかったのだから、娘は誓いを果たさなくても罰せられない。
6 娘がよく考えもしないで誓いを立て、そのあとで結婚した場合はどうなるのか。 7 夫がそのことを聞いた日に何も言わなければ、誓いはそのまま有効である。 8 しかし、夫が『認めない』と言えば無効になる。妻は、誓いを果たさなくても罰せられない。
9 未亡人や離婚した女性の場合は、自分で立てた誓いは果たさなければならない。
10 結婚して、夫といっしょに暮らしているときに誓いを立てた女性の場合は、 11 夫がそれを聞いて何も言わなければ、誓いは有効である。 12 しかし、聞いた日のうちに『認めない』と言えば無効である。そして、妻も罰せられない。 13 夫は妻の立てた誓いを認めることも、無効にすることもできるが、 14 その日のうちに何も言わなければ、同意したことになる。 15 あとになって『誓いを認めない』と言っても無効であるばかりか、妻が受けるはずの罰を、夫が代わりに受けなければならない。」
16 以上が、誓いを立てる場合の夫と妻、父親と結婚前の娘がどういう関係にあるかをはっきりさせたおきてです。

30 [a]Moses said to the heads of the tribes of Israel:(A) “This is what the Lord commands: 2 When a man makes a vow to the Lord or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said.(B)
3 “When a young woman still living in her father’s household makes a vow to the Lord or obligates herself by a pledge 4 and her father hears about her vow or pledge but says nothing to her, then all her vows and every pledge by which she obligated herself will stand.(C) 5 But if her father forbids her(D) when he hears about it, none of her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand; the Lord will release her because her father has forbidden her.
6 “If she marries after she makes a vow(E) or after her lips utter a rash promise by which she obligates herself 7 and her husband hears about it but says nothing to her, then her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand. 8 But if her husband(F) forbids her when he hears about it, he nullifies the vow that obligates her or the rash promise by which she obligates herself, and the Lord will release her.(G)
9 “Any vow or obligation taken by a widow or divorced woman will be binding on her.
10 “If a woman living with her husband makes a vow or obligates herself by a pledge under oath 11 and her husband hears about it but says nothing to her and does not forbid her, then all her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand. 12 But if her husband nullifies them when he hears about them, then none of the vows or pledges that came from her lips will stand.(H) Her husband has nullified them, and the Lord will release her. 13 Her husband may confirm or nullify any vow she makes or any sworn pledge to deny herself.[b] 14 But if her husband says nothing to her about it from day to day, then he confirms all her vows or the pledges binding on her. He confirms them by saying nothing to her when he hears about them. 15 If, however, he nullifies them(I) some time after he hears about them, then he must bear the consequences of her wrongdoing.”
16 These are the regulations the Lord gave Moses concerning relationships between a man and his wife, and between a father and his young daughter still living at home.

ミデヤン人への報復
31 それからまた、主はモーセに告げて言いました。 2 「ミデヤン人に報復をしなさい。ほんとうの神でない偶像を拝めとそそのかした罰である。それがすんだら、あなたは天に移される。」
3 そこで、モーセは人々に言いました。「さあ、主の命令だ。武器を取って、ミデヤン人たちと戦え。 4-5 各部族から千人ずつ兵を出すのだ。」
直ちにこのとおりにされ、一万二千人が戦場に送られました。 6 祭司エルアザルの子ピネハスもいっしょです。進軍ラッパを鳴らし、聖具を持っていく役だからです。
7 戦いは大勝利でした。敵方の男はみな殺され、 8 ミデヤン人の五人の王、エビ、レケム、ツル、フル、レバも、あえない最期を遂げました。あのベオルの子バラムも、この戦いで死にました。
9-11 イスラエル軍はミデヤン人の女と子どもを全員捕虜にし、牛や羊のほか、いろいろな戦利品を奪い、町や村を一つ残らず焼き払いました。 12-13 捕虜を引っ立てて、戦利品を山ほどかかえて意気揚々と引き揚げて来た一行を、モーセや祭司エルアザルをはじめ指導者たちが迎えました。その時、人々はまだヨルダン川の東側で、エリコに向かい合うあたりのモアブ平原に野営していました。
14 ところが、モーセは一行を見るなり、将校や指揮官をしかりつけました。 15 「なぜ女たちを生かしておいたのか。 16 あのバラムの勧めに従って、ペオル山で偶像を拝めとそそのかしたのはこの者たちである。それで、大ぜいの者が疫病にかかって死んだ。 17 子どものうち男の子と、男と寝たことのある女は生かしておくな。 18 女の子だけは助け、めいめいが引き取ってもかまわない。 19 ところで、殺害に加わった者、死体にさわった者はみな、七日間は宿営に入ってはならない。そして三日目と七日目に、自分と捕虜の身をきよめなければならない。 20 また、衣服、皮ややぎの毛や木で作った物など全部をきよめるのを忘れるな。」
21 祭司エルアザルも兵士たちに言いました。「主がモーセに命じたのは、こういうことだ。 22 金、銀、青銅、鉄、すず、鉛など、燃えない物はみな、 23 火で焼ききよめ、それからきよめの水できよめる。燃える物は水できよめるだけでかまわない。 24 そして七日目に、衣服を洗い、身をきよめてから宿営に戻りなさい。」
25 主はモーセに言いました。 26 「祭司エルアザルや族長たちといっしょに、捕虜、家畜、戦利品の数を表にまとめなさい。 27 それを、兵士と国民とに半分ずつ分けるのだ。 28 兵士はその中から、捕虜、牛、ろば、羊の五百分の一を主に献納しなければならない。 29 祭司エルアザルがそれを受け取り、神への奉納物としてささげる。 30 また国民も同じように、分け前の捕虜や家畜のそれぞれ五十分の一を納めなければならない。それはわたしの取り分だから、幕屋で働くレビ人に与えるのだ。」
31 そこでモーセと祭司エルアザルは、命じられたとおりにしました。 32-35 宝石、衣服などを除いた戦利品の総計は、羊六七万五、〇〇〇頭、牛七万二、〇〇〇頭、ろば六万一、〇〇〇頭、少女三万二、〇〇〇人でした。 36-40 この半分が兵士の分け前です。羊三三万七、五〇〇頭〔うち主にささげたのは六七五頭〕。牛三万六、〇〇〇頭〔うち主にささげたのは七二頭〕。ろば三万五〇〇頭〔うち主にささげたのは六一頭〕。少女一万六、〇〇〇人〔うちレビ部族に与えられたのは三二人〕。 41 主がモーセに命令されたとおり、主の取り分はみな祭司エルアザルが受け取りました。
42-46 兵士の分とは別に、人々も全く同じだけの分け前を受け取れます。 47 主の命令どおり、その五十分の一はレビ人のものになります。
48-49 その時、将校や指揮官たちがモーセに申し出ました。「兵士の数を調べたところ、出兵した者は全員無事に戻ってまいりました。 50 そこで、戦利品の中から、金製の腕飾り、腕輪、くるぶしの飾り輪、指輪、イヤリング、ネックレスなどをささげて、感謝の気持ちを表したいのです。どうかこれをお納めください。全員のいのちが守られたお礼でございます。」
51-52 モーセと祭司エルアザルはささげ物を受け取りましたが、全部で金一万六、七五〇シェケル（一九二キログラム）以上にもなりました。 53 このほかにも、兵士たちはそれぞれ戦利品を持っています。 54 ささげ物は幕屋に運ばれ、戦勝の記念品として大切に保管されました。

Vengeance on the Midianites
31 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Take vengeance on the Midianites(A) for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.(B)”
3 So Moses said to the people, “Arm some of your men to go to war against the Midianites so that they may carry out the Lord’s vengeance(C) on them. 4 Send into battle a thousand men from each of the tribes of Israel.” 5 So twelve thousand men armed for battle,(D) a thousand from each tribe, were supplied from the clans of Israel. 6 Moses sent them into battle,(E) a thousand from each tribe, along with Phinehas(F) son of Eleazar, the priest, who took with him articles from the sanctuary(G) and the trumpets(H) for signaling.
7 They fought against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses,(I) and killed every man.(J) 8 Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba(K)—the five kings of Midian.(L) They also killed Balaam son of Beor(M) with the sword.(N) 9 The Israelites captured the Midianite women(O) and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder.(P) 10 They burned(Q) all the towns where the Midianites had settled, as well as all their camps.(R) 11 They took all the plunder and spoils, including the people and animals,(S) 12 and brought the captives, spoils(T) and plunder to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the Israelite assembly(U) at their camp on the plains of Moab, by the Jordan across from Jericho.(V)
13 Moses, Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp. 14 Moses was angry with the officers of the army(W)—the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds—who returned from the battle.
15 “Have you allowed all the women to live?” he asked them. 16 “They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice(X) and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident,(Y) so that a plague(Z) struck the Lord’s people. 17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man,(AA) 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
19 “Anyone who has killed someone or touched someone who was killed(AB) must stay outside the camp seven days.(AC) On the third and seventh days you must purify yourselves(AD) and your captives. 20 Purify every garment(AE) as well as everything made of leather, goat hair or wood.(AF)”
21 Then Eleazar the priest said to the soldiers who had gone into battle,(AG) “This is what is required by the law that the Lord gave Moses: 22 Gold, silver, bronze, iron,(AH) tin, lead 23 and anything else that can withstand fire must be put through the fire,(AI) and then it will be clean. But it must also be purified with the water of cleansing.(AJ) And whatever cannot withstand fire must be put through that water. 24 On the seventh day wash your clothes and you will be clean.(AK) Then you may come into the camp.(AL)”
Dividing the Spoils
25 The Lord said to Moses, 26 “You and Eleazar the priest and the family heads(AM) of the community are to count all the people(AN) and animals that were captured.(AO) 27 Divide(AP) the spoils equally between the soldiers who took part in the battle and the rest of the community. 28 From the soldiers who fought in the battle, set apart as tribute for the Lord(AQ) one out of every five hundred, whether people, cattle, donkeys or sheep. 29 Take this tribute from their half share and give it to Eleazar the priest as the Lord’s part. 30 From the Israelites’ half, select one out of every fifty, whether people, cattle, donkeys, sheep or other animals. Give them to the Levites, who are responsible for the care of the Lord’s tabernacle.(AR)” 31 So Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.
32 The plunder remaining from the spoils(AS) that the soldiers took was 675,000 sheep, 33 72,000 cattle, 34 61,000 donkeys 35 and 32,000 women who had never slept with a man.
36 The half share of those who fought in the battle was:
337,500 sheep, 37 of which the tribute for the Lord(AT) was 675;
38 36,000 cattle, of which the tribute for the Lord was 72;
39 30,500 donkeys, of which the tribute for the Lord was 61;
40 16,000 people, of whom the tribute for the Lord was 32.
41 Moses gave the tribute to Eleazar the priest as the Lord’s part,(AU) as the Lord commanded Moses.(AV)
42 The half belonging to the Israelites, which Moses set apart from that of the fighting men— 43 the community’s half—was 337,500 sheep, 44 36,000 cattle, 45 30,500 donkeys 46 and 16,000 people. 47 From the Israelites’ half, Moses selected one out of every fifty people and animals, as the Lord commanded him, and gave them to the Levites, who were responsible for the care of the Lord’s tabernacle.
48 Then the officers(AW) who were over the units of the army—the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds—went to Moses 49 and said to him, “Your servants have counted(AX) the soldiers under our command, and not one is missing.(AY) 50 So we have brought as an offering to the Lord the gold articles each of us acquired—armlets, bracelets, signet rings, earrings and necklaces—to make atonement for ourselves(AZ) before the Lord.”
51 Moses and Eleazar the priest accepted from them the gold—all the crafted articles. 52 All the gold from the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds that Moses and Eleazar presented as a gift to the Lord weighed 16,750 shekels.[a] 53 Each soldier had taken plunder(BA) for himself. 54 Moses and Eleazar the priest accepted the gold from the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds and brought it into the tent of meeting(BB) as a memorial(BC) for the Israelites before the Lord.

9 イエスはさらに、ことばをお続けになりました。「ここに立っている人たちの中には、神の国が大きな力を持って来るのを見るまで、生きている人がいます。」
2 それから六日後、イエスはペテロとヤコブとヨハネだけを連れて、山に登られました。すると突然、イエスの顔が栄光に輝き、 3 着物はまばゆいばかりの白さになりました。世のどんな布さらし屋も、こんなに白くはできないと思われるほどの白さでした。 4 そこへ、なんとエリヤとモーセが現れ、イエスと親しく話し始めたではありませんか。
5 これを見たペテロは、思わず叫びました。「先生。なんとすばらしいことでしょう！ ここに、お一人に一つずつ、三つの幕屋（神がイスラエルの民と会う聖所）を建てましょう。」
6 こう言う以外に、何と言ってよいかわからなかったのです。弟子たちはおびえ切っていました。
7 ペテロがまだ言い終わらないうちに、雲がすっぽり彼らを包んで、太陽をさえぎったかと思うと、雲の中から、「これはわたしの愛する子。彼の言うことを聞きなさい」という声がしました。
8 あっけにとられた弟子たちがあたりを見回すと、すでにモーセとエリヤの姿はありませんでした。ただイエスがおられるだけでした。
9 山を降りながら、イエスは弟子たちに、いま見たことを、自分が死者の中から復活する時まで、だれにも口外しないようにとお命じになりました。 10 三人はそのことを深く心に秘めておきましたが、「死者の中から復活する」とはどういう意味かわからず、あれこれ話し合いました。
11 そこで彼らはイエスに、「どうしてユダヤ人の宗教的指導者たちは、メシヤ（救い主）が来る前に必ずエリヤが来るはずだ、と言っているのでしょうか」と尋ねました〔もしイエスがメシヤなら、先に来ているはずのエリヤはどうなっているのかと思ったからです〕。 12-13 イエスは、「まずエリヤが来て道を整えるというのはほんとうです。実際、エリヤはもう来たのです」とお答えになりました。そして、エリヤが預言どおり、人々からひどい仕打ちを受けたことを説明してから、「では、メシヤが多くの苦しみを受け、さげすまれると預言されていることは、どう考えますか」とお尋ねになりました。
山を降りたイエス
14 四人が弟子たちのところに帰って来てみると、大ぜいの群衆に囲まれて、弟子たちと数人のユダヤ人の指導者たちが論争のまっ最中でした。 15 人々は、イエスの姿を見て驚き、すぐに駆け寄り、あいさつしました。 16 イエスは、「何を議論しているのですか」とお尋ねになりました。
17 すると一人の男が、こう答えました。「先生。あなたに息子を治していただこうと連れてまいりました。息子は悪霊につかれていて、ものを言うことができません。 18 この悪霊が取りつくと、どこであろうと、あたりかまわず押し倒すので、息子は口からあわを吹き、歯ぎしりして、体を硬直させてしまいます。お弟子さんたちに、悪霊を追い出してくださるよう願ったのですが、できませんでした。」
19 「ああ、なんと信仰の薄い人たちでしょう。いつまで、あなたがたといっしょにいなければならないのでしょうか。さあ、その子を連れて来なさい。」
20 さっそく少年が連れて来られました。ところが、イエスを見るなり悪霊が彼をひどくひきつけさせたので、彼はばったり倒れ、あわを吹いて転げ回りました。
21 イエスは父親にお尋ねになりました。「いつからこのようになったのですか。」「それが、小さい時分からなのです。 22 悪霊はこの子を殺そうと、何度も火の中、水の中に倒したのです。先生、お願いです。もしおできになるなら、何とかして助けてください。」
23 「もしできるなら、と言うのですか。あなたが信じるなら、どんなことでもできるのです。」
24 「信じます、信じますとも！ ああ、どうか不信仰な私をお助けください。」
25 人だかりがだんだん大きくなるのを見て、イエスは悪霊をしかりつけました。「聞くことも言うこともできなくさせる霊よ。さあ、この子から出て行きなさい。二度と戻って来てはいけない。」
26 すると悪霊は大声をあげ、もう一度、少年を激しくひきつけさせて出て行きました。少年はぐったりとなり、まるで死んだように動きません。人々はざわつき始めました。「おい、死んでしまったぞ」というささやきも聞こえます。 27 ところが、イエスが少年の手を取って起こされると、彼はぱっと立ち上がり、すっかり元気になりました。 28 あとで家に入り、ほかにはだれもいなくなった時、弟子たちはイエスに尋ねました。「どうして私たちには、あの悪霊を追い出せなかったのでしょう。」
29 イエスは、「こういうことには、特に祈りが必要なのです」とお答えになりました。
30 一行はそこを去り、ガリラヤを通って行きました。イエスは、できるだけ人目につかないように心を配っておられました。 31 なるべく多くの時間をさいて、弟子たちと語り合い、教育するつもりだったからです。「メシヤ（救い主）であるわたしは裏切られ、殺され、そして三日目に復活します」と、イエスは教えられました。
32 しかし、弟子たちには何のことかわかりませんでした。かといって、イエスに直接その意味を尋ねるのもこわかったのです。
33 カペナウムに着き、泊まることになっていた家に入ってしばらくすると、イエスは弟子たちに、「ここへ来る途中、何を言い合っていたのですか」とお尋ねになりました。
34 弟子たちは顔を真っ赤にして、うつむいてしまいました。実は、自分たちの中でだれが一番偉いかと言い合っていたからです。
35 イエスは腰をおろし、弟子たちを回りに呼び寄せると、「だれでも一番偉くなりたい人は、一番小さい者となり、だれにでも仕える者となりなさい」と教えられました。 36 それから、小さな子どもを真ん中に立たせ、腕に抱いて言われました。 37 「見なさい。だれでもわたしの名のゆえに、このような小さい者をも受け入れる人は、わたしを受け入れているのです。そして、わたしを受け入れるなら、わたしを遣わされたわたしの父をも受け入れているのです。」
38 ある時、弟子のヨハネがイエスに言いました。「先生。あなたのお名前を使って悪霊を追い出している人を見かけました。でも、私たちの仲間ではなかったので、すぐにやめさせました。」
39 するとイエスは言われました。「やめさせることはありません。わたしの名によって奇跡を行いながら、そのすぐあとで、わたしに逆らう者はいないのですから。 40 わたしたちに反対しない者は、味方なのです。 41 よく言っておきますが、あなたがたがキリストの弟子だと知って、水一杯でも飲ませてくれる人は、必ず報いを受けます。
42 だが反対に、私を信じるこのような小さい者の一人にでも信仰を失わせる者は、大きな石を首にくくりつけられて、海に投げ込まれたほうがましです。
43-44 もしあなたの手が悪いことをするなら、切り取ってしまいなさい。片手になっても永遠に生きるほうが、両手そろって、いつまでも燃え続ける地獄の火に投げ込まれるよりは、ずっとよいのです。 45-46 もし足があなたを悪事に引きずり込むなら、切り取ってしまいなさい。片足になっても永遠に生きるほうが、両足そろって地獄に落ちるよりは、ずっとよいのです。
47 もし目が罪を犯すなら、えぐり出してしまいなさい。片目になっても神の国に入るほうが、両目そろって地獄の火を見るより、はるかによいのです。 48 地獄では、彼らを食ううじはいつまでも死なず、燃えさかる火は消えることがありません。
49 すべてのものは、火のような試練によって塩けをつけられるのです。 50 良い塩も、塩けをなくしたら、だいなしです。味つけの役に立たなくなってしまいます。だからあなたがたも、塩けをなくさないように、よく注意しなさい。そして、互いに仲良く暮らしなさい。」

The Transfiguration(C)(D)
2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John(E) with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became dazzling white,(F) whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. 4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi,(G) it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 6 (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)
7 Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud:(H) “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”(I)
8 Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.
9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone(J) what they had seen until the Son of Man(K) had risen from the dead. 10 They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant.
11 And they asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
12 Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man(L) must suffer much(M) and be rejected?(N) 13 But I tell you, Elijah has come,(O) and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.”
Jesus Heals a Boy Possessed by an Impure Spirit(P)
14 When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them. 15 As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.
16 “What are you arguing with them about?” he asked.
17 A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.”
19 “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
20 So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.(Q)
21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”
“From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”(R)
24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene,(S) he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.
28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately,(T) “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.[a]”
Jesus Predicts His Death a Second Time(U)
30 They left that place and passed through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know where they were, 31 because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, “The Son of Man(V) is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him,(W) and after three days(X) he will rise.”(Y) 32 But they did not understand what he meant(Z) and were afraid to ask him about it.
33 They came to Capernaum.(AA) When he was in the house,(AB) he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” 34 But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.(AC)
35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”(AD)
36 He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms,(AE) he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”(AF)
Whoever Is Not Against Us Is for Us(AG)
38 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”(AH)
39 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us.(AI) 41 Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.(AJ)
Causing to Stumble
42 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble,(AK) it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea.(AL) 43 If your hand causes you to stumble,(AM) cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell,(AN) where the fire never goes out.(AO) [44] [b] 45 And if your foot causes you to stumble,(AP) cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.(AQ) [46] [c] 47 And if your eye causes you to stumble,(AR) pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,(AS) 48 where
49 Everyone will be salted(AU) with fire.
50 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again?(AV) Have salt among yourselves,(AW) and be at peace with each other.”(AX)
