25 Israel locuia în Sitim(A) şi poporul(B) a început să se dea la curvie cu fetele lui Moab. 2 Ele au poftit(C) poporul la jertfele(D) dumnezeilor lor, şi poporul a mâncat şi s-a închinat(E) până la pământ înaintea dumnezeilor lor. 3 Israel s-a alipit de Baal-Peor, şi Domnul S-a(F) aprins de mânie împotriva lui Israel. 4 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Strânge(G) pe toate căpeteniile poporului şi spânzură pe cei vinovaţi înaintea Domnului în faţa soarelui, pentru ca să se întoarcă de la Israel mânia aprinsă(H) a Domnului.” 5 Moise a zis judecătorilor(I) lui Israel: „Fiecare(J) din voi să ucidă pe aceia dintre ai lui care s-au lipit de Baal-Peor.”

Moab Seduces Israel
25 While Israel was staying in Shittim,(A) the men began to indulge in sexual immorality(B) with Moabite(C) women,(D) 2 who invited them to the sacrifices(E) to their gods.(F) The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods. 3 So Israel yoked themselves to(G) the Baal of Peor.(H) And the Lord’s anger burned against them.
4 The Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders(I) of these people, kill them and expose(J) them in broad daylight before the Lord,(K) so that the Lord’s fierce anger(L) may turn away from Israel.”
5 So Moses said to Israel’s judges, “Each of you must put to death(M) those of your people who have yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor.”(N)

Israel Commits Idolatry
25 While Israel was staying at Shittim, the men began to have sex with Moabite women 2 who invited the people to the sacrifices offered to their gods. The people ate the meat from the sacrifices and worshiped these gods. 3 Since the Israelites joined in worshiping the god Baal of Peor, Yahweh became angry with Israel.
4 Yahweh said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of the people, and execute them in broad daylight in Yahweh’s presence. This will turn Yahweh’s anger away from Israel.”
5 So Moses said to the judges of Israel, “Each of you must kill the men who have joined in worshiping the god Baal of Peor.”
