²⁴ “This applies to the Levites: ^(A)from twenty-five years old and upward they^[a] shall come to do duty in the service of the tent of meeting.

³ The Levites, ^(A)thirty years old and upward, were numbered, and ^(B)the total was ^(C)38,000 men.

^3 (A)from thirty years old up to fifty years old, all who can come on duty, to do the work in the tent of meeting.

^3 (A)Share in suffering as ^(B)a good soldier of Christ Jesus. ⁴ No soldier ^(C)gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. ^5 (D)An athlete is not ^(E)crowned unless he competes according to the rules.

⁴ For the ^(A)weapons of ^(B)our warfare are not of the flesh but have ^(C)divine power ^(D)to destroy strongholds.

^7 (A)Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? ^(B)Who plants a vineyard without eating any of its fruit? Or who tends a flock without getting some of the milk?

¹² and the plan of all that he had in mind for the courts of the house of the Lord, all the surrounding chambers, ^(A)the treasuries of the house of God, and the treasuries for dedicated gifts; ¹³ for the ^(B)divisions of the priests and of the ^(C)Levites, and all the work of the service in the house of the Lord; for all the vessels for the service in the house of the Lord,

^24 (A)These were the sons of Levi by their fathers' houses, the heads of fathers' houses ^(B)as they were listed according to the number of the names of the individuals from ^(C)twenty years old and upward who were to do the work for the service of the house of the Lord. ²⁵ For David said, “The Lord, the God of Israel, ^(D)has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever. ²⁶ And so the Levites no longer need ^(E)to carry the tabernacle or any of the things for its service.” ²⁷ For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered from ^(F)twenty years old and upward.
