⁹ ‘And if anyone dies very suddenly beside him, and he defiles his consecrated head, then he shall ^(A)shave his head on the day of his cleansing; on the seventh day he shall shave it.

^18 (A)Then the Nazirite shall shave his consecrated head at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and shall take the hair from his consecrated head and put it on the fire which is under the sacrifice of the peace offering.

Paul Returns to Antioch

¹⁸ So Paul still remained ^[a]a good while. Then he took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. ^(A)He had his hair cut off at ^(B)Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow.

⁹ But on the ^(A)seventh day he shall shave all the hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows—all his hair he shall shave off. He shall wash his clothes and wash his body in water, and he shall be clean.

⁸ Yet indeed I also count all things loss ^(A)for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ ⁹ and be found in Him, not having ^(B)my own righteousness, which is from the law, but ^(C)that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

²³ Therefore do what we tell you: We have four men who have taken a vow. ²⁴ Take them and be purified with them, and pay their expenses so that they may ^(A)shave their heads, and that all may know that those things of which they were informed concerning you are nothing, but that you yourself also walk orderly and keep the law.

¹⁴ ‘This is the law when a man dies in a tent: All who come into the tent and all who are in the tent shall be unclean seven days; ¹⁵ and every ^(A)open vessel, which has no cover fastened on it, is unclean. ^16 (B)Whoever in the open field touches one who is slain by a sword or who has died, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

¹⁷ ‘And for an unclean person they shall take some of the ^(C)ashes of the heifer burnt for purification from sin, and ^[a]running water shall be put on them in a vessel. ¹⁸ A clean person shall take ^(D)hyssop and dip it in the water, sprinkle it on the tent, on all the vessels, on the persons who were there, or on the one who touched a bone, the slain, the dead, or a grave. ¹⁹ The clean person shall sprinkle the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day; ^(E)and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, wash his clothes, and bathe in water; and at evening he shall be clean.
