⁵ ‘All the days of the vow of his separation no ^(A)razor shall come upon his head; until the days are fulfilled for which he separated himself to the Lord, he shall be holy. Then he shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.

¹¹ Then she ^(A)made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed ^(B)look on the affliction of Your maidservant and ^(C)remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and ^(D)no razor shall come upon his head.”

¹⁷ that he ^(A)told her all his heart, and said to her, ^(B)“No razor has ever come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If I am shaven, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.”

⁵ For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. And no ^(A)razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be ^(B)a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall ^(C)begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”

¹⁰ For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. ¹¹ Nevertheless, ^(A)neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. ¹² For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.

¹³ Judge among yourselves. Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? ¹⁴ Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him? ¹⁵ But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given ^[a]to her for a covering.

^19 (A)Then she lulled him to sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his head. Then ^[a]she began to torment him, and his strength left him.
