²⁷ And when he has made her drink the water, then, if she has defiled herself and has broken faith with her husband, the water that brings the curse shall enter into her and cause bitter pain, and her womb shall swell, and her thigh shall fall away, and the woman ^(A)shall become a curse among her people.

¹⁸ “For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ^(A)As my anger and my wrath were poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you when you go to Egypt. ^(B)You shall become an execration, a horror, a curse, and a taunt. You shall see this place no more.

¹⁸ I will pursue them with ^(A)sword, famine, and pestilence, ^(B)and will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, ^(C)to be a curse, a terror, a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations ^(D)where I have driven them,

¹³ And as ^(A)you have been a byword of cursing among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, ^(B)so will I save you, and ^(C)you shall be a blessing. ^(D)Fear not, but ^(E)let your hands be strong.”

¹² I will take the remnant of Judah who have ^(A)set their faces to come to the land of Egypt to live, and they shall all be consumed. ^(B)In the land of Egypt they shall fall; by the sword and by famine ^(C)they shall be consumed. ^(D)From the least to the greatest, they shall die by the sword and by famine, ^(E)and they shall become an oath, a horror, ^(F)a curse, and a taunt.

^22 (A)Because of them ^(B)this curse shall be used by all the exiles from Judah in Babylon: “The Lord make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, ^(C)whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,”

⁹ I will make them ^(A)a horror^[a] to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be ^(B)a reproach, ^(C)a byword, ^(D)a taunt, and ^(E)a curse in all the places where I shall drive them.

³⁷ And you shall become ^(A)a horror, a proverb, and a byword among all the peoples where the Lord will lead you away.
