¹⁸ “Do not cut off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites;

²³ ‘So they shall surrender all your wives and ^(A)children to the Chaldeans. ^(B)You shall not escape from their hand, but shall be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon. And you shall cause this city to be burned with fire.’ ”

⁶ And when they came to ^(A)Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put out his ^(B)hand to the ark of God and ^[a]took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. ⁷ Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his ^[b]error; and he died there by the ark of God.

¹⁹ Then ^(A)He struck the men of Beth Shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the Lord. ^[a]He ^(B)struck fifty thousand and seventy men of the people, and the people lamented because the Lord had struck the people with a great slaughter.

⁵ And you shall attend to ^(A)the duties of the sanctuary and the duties of the altar, ^(B)that there may be no more wrath on the children of Israel.

¹⁰ And the Lord said to Moses, “Bring ^(A)Aaron’s rod back before the Testimony, to be kept ^(B)as a sign against the rebels, ^(C)that you may put their complaints away from Me, lest they die.”

³² and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and ^(A)all the men with Korah, with all their goods.

The Profane Fire of Nadab and Abihu

10 Then ^(A)Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, ^(B)each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered ^(C)profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. ² So ^(D)fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.

²¹ And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down and warn the people, lest they break through ^(A)to gaze at the Lord, and many of them perish.
