⁴⁰ And Moses ^(A)gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he settled in it.

17 Then allotment was made to the people of Manasseh, for he was ^(A)the firstborn of Joseph. To ^(B)Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, ^(C)were allotted Gilead and Bashan, because he was a man of war.

²⁹ And Moses gave an inheritance to the half-tribe of Manasseh. It was allotted to the half-tribe of the people of Manasseh according to their clans. ³⁰ Their region extended from ^(A)Mahanaim, through all Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all ^(B)the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities, ³¹ and half Gilead, and ^(C)Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. These were allotted to the people of ^(D)Machir the son of Manasseh for the half of the people of Machir according to their clans.

^13 (A)The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, that is, ^(B)all the region of Argob, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh.
