³⁹ And the sons of ^(A)Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and captured it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were in it.

²³ And Joseph saw Ephraim's children ^(A)of the third generation. The ^(B)children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were ^(C)counted as Joseph's own.^[a]

17 Then allotment was made to the people of Manasseh, for he was ^(A)the firstborn of Joseph. To ^(B)Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, ^(C)were allotted Gilead and Bashan, because he was a man of war.
