⁸ They are to take care of all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, fulfilling the obligations of the Israelites by doing the work of the tabernacle.

²⁴ Then I set apart twelve of the leading priests, namely, Sherebiah,^(A) Hashabiah and ten of their brothers, ²⁵ and I weighed out^(B) to them the offering of silver and gold and the articles that the king, his advisers, his officials and all Israel present there had donated for the house of our God. ²⁶ I weighed out to them 650 talents^[a] of silver, silver articles weighing 100 talents,^[b] 100 talents^[c] of gold, ²⁷ 20 bowls of gold valued at 1,000 darics,^[d] and two fine articles of polished bronze, as precious as gold.

²⁸ I said to them, “You as well as these articles are consecrated to the Lord.^(C) The silver and gold are a freewill offering to the Lord, the God of your ancestors. ²⁹ Guard them carefully until you weigh them out in the chambers of the house of the Lord in Jerusalem before the leading priests and the Levites and the family heads of Israel.” ³⁰ Then the priests and Levites received the silver and gold and sacred articles that had been weighed out to be taken to the house of our God in Jerusalem.

The Treasurers and Other Officials

²⁰ Their fellow Levites^(A) were^[a] in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries for the dedicated things.^(B)

²¹ The descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and who were heads of families belonging to Ladan the Gershonite,^(C) were Jehieli, ²² the sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries^(D) of the temple of the Lord.

²³ From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites:^(E)

²¹ Then the Kohathites^(A) set out, carrying the holy things.^(B) The tabernacle was to be set up before they arrived.^(C)

¹⁷ Then the tabernacle was taken down, and the Gershonites and Merarites, who carried it, set out.^(A)

³³ This is the service of the Merarite clans as they work at the tent of meeting under the direction of Ithamar^(A) son of Aaron, the priest.”

²⁸ This is the service of the Gershonite clans^(A) at the tent of meeting. Their duties are to be under the direction of Ithamar^(B) son of Aaron, the priest.

¹⁵ “After Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy furnishings and all the holy articles, and when the camp is ready to move,^(A) only then are the Kohathites^(B) to come and do the carrying.^(C) But they must not touch the holy things^(D) or they will die.^(E) The Kohathites are to carry those things that are in the tent of meeting.
