Redemption of the Firstborn

⁴⁰ And the Lord said to Moses, “List all the firstborn males of the people of Israel, from a month old and upward, taking the number of their names.

¹⁵ “List the sons of Levi, by fathers' houses and by clans; ^(A)every male from a month old and upward you shall list.”

⁴ It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for ^(A)they are virgins. It is these ^(B)who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as ^(C)firstfruits for God and the Lamb,

^5 (A)The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never ^(B)blot his name out of ^(C)the book of life. ^(D)I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.

²³ and to ^(A)the assembly^[a] of the firstborn who are ^(B)enrolled in heaven, and to ^(C)God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

¹⁹ But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: ^(A)“The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone ^(B)who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”

³ Yes, I ask you also, true companion,^[a] help these women, who have labored^[b] side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, ^(A)whose names are in the book of life.

^20 (A)Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that ^(B)your names are written in heaven.”

^3 (A)And he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called ^(B)holy, everyone who has ^(C)been recorded for life in Jerusalem,
