³² And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest was to be chief over the leaders of the Levites, with oversight of those who kept charge of the sanctuary.

The Treasuries and Other Duties

²⁰ Of the Levites, Ahijah was ^(A)over the treasuries of the house of God and over the treasuries of the ^(B)dedicated^[a] things. ²¹ The sons of ^[b]Laadan, the descendants of the Gershonites of Laadan, heads of their fathers’ houses, of Laadan the Gershonite: ^[c]Jehieli. ²² The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, were over the treasuries of the house of the Lord. ²³ Of the ^(C)Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites: ^24 (D)Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was overseer of the treasuries.

The Levites at Jerusalem

¹⁴ Of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari; ¹⁵ Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Micah, the son of ^(A)Zichri, the son of Asaph; ^16 (B)Obadiah the son of ^(C)Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.

The Levite Gatekeepers

¹⁷ And the gatekeepers were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brethren. Shallum was the chief. ¹⁸ Until then they had been gatekeepers for the camps of the children of Levi at the King’s Gate on the east.

¹⁹ Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brethren, from his father’s house, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, ^[a]gatekeepers of the tabernacle. Their fathers had been keepers of the entrance to the camp of the Lord. ²⁰ And ^(D)Phinehas the son of Eleazar had been the officer over them in time past; the Lord was with him.

^18 (A)And the captain of the guard took ^(B)Seraiah the chief priest, ^(C)Zephaniah the second priest, and the three doorkeepers.

^25 (A)Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to Mount Hor; ²⁶ and strip Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar his son; for Aaron shall be gathered to his people and die there.” ²⁷ So Moses did just as the Lord commanded, and they went up to Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. ^28 (B)Moses stripped Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar his son; and ^(C)Aaron died there on the top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.

²⁷ “Aaron and his sons shall ^[a]assign all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, all their tasks and all their service. And you shall ^[b]appoint to them all their tasks as their duty.

¹⁶ “The appointed duty of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest is ^(A)the oil for the light, the ^(B)sweet incense, ^(C)the daily grain offering, the ^(D)anointing oil, the oversight of all the tabernacle, of all that is in it, with the sanctuary and its furnishings.”
