^57 (A)And these are those who were numbered of the Levites according to their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.

The Family of Levi^(A)

6 The sons of Levi were ^(B)Gershon,^[a] Kohath, and Merari.

¹⁶ These are the names of ^(A)the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. And the years of the life of Levi were one hundred and thirty-seven. ^17 (B)The sons of Gershon were Libni and Shimi according to their families. ¹⁸ And ^(C)the sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. And the years of the life of Kohath were one hundred and thirty-three. ^19 (D)The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of Levi according to their generations.

Now these are the families of the Levites according to their fathers: ²⁰ Of Gershon were Libni his son, Jahath his son, ^(B)Zimmah his son, ^21 [b]Joah his son, ^[c]Iddo his son, Zerah his son, and ^[d]Jeatherai his son. ²² The sons of Kohath were ^[e]Amminadab his son, ^(C)Korah his son, Assir his son, ²³ Elkanah his son, Ebiasaph his son, Assir his son, ²⁴ Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son. ²⁵ The sons of Elkanah were ^(D)Amasai and Ahimoth. ²⁶ As for Elkanah, the sons of Elkanah were ^[f]Zophai his son, ^[g]Nahath his son, ^27 [h]Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, and Elkanah his son. ²⁸ The sons of Samuel were ^[i]Joel the firstborn, and Abijah ^[j]the second. ²⁹ The sons of Merari were Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son, ³⁰ Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, and Asaiah his son.

^2 (A)“Command the children of Israel that they give the Levites cities to dwell in from the inheritance of their possession, and you shall also give the Levites ^(B)common-land around the cities. ³ They shall have the cities to dwell in; and their common-land shall be for their cattle, for their herds, and for all their animals.

The Sons of Aaron^(A)

3 Now these are the ^(B)records^[a] of Aaron and Moses when the Lord spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai. ² And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab, the ^(C)firstborn, and ^(D)Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. ³ These are the names of the sons of Aaron, ^(E)the anointed priests, ^[b]whom he consecrated to minister as priests. ^4 (F)Nadab and Abihu had died before the Lord when they offered profane fire before the Lord in the Wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar ministered as priests in the presence of Aaron their father.
