²⁰ You led Your people like a flock
By the hand of Moses and Aaron.

^20 (A)He deprives the trusted ones of speech,
And takes away the discernment of the elders.
^21 (B)He pours contempt on princes,
And ^[a]disarms the mighty.
²² He ^(C)uncovers deep things out of darkness,
And brings the shadow of death to light.
^23 (D)He makes nations great, and destroys them;
He ^[b]enlarges nations, and guides them.

¹⁴ If ^(A)He breaks a thing down, it cannot be rebuilt;
If He imprisons a man, there can be no release.

⁹ Who among all these does not know
That the hand of the Lord has done this,
^10 (A)In whose hand is the ^[a]life of every living thing,
And the ^(B)breath of ^[b]all mankind?

²³ You also multiplied ^(A)their children as the stars of heaven,
And brought them into the land
Which You had told their fathers
To go in and possess.
