^10 (A)and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up together with Korah when that company died, when the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men; ^(B)and they became a sign.

³⁸ The censers of ^(A)these men who sinned ^[a]against their own souls, let them be made into hammered plates as a covering for the altar. Because they presented them before the Lord, therefore they are holy; ^(B)and they shall be a sign to the children of Israel.”

^31 (A)Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, ³² and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and ^(B)all the men with Korah, with all their goods. ³³ So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly. ³⁴ Then all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up also!”

³⁵ And ^(C)a fire came out from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense.

⁶ and turning the cities of ^(A)Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly;

⁷ as ^(A)Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the ^[a]vengeance of eternal fire.

⁶ Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as ^(A)they also lusted. ^7 (B)And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, ^(C)“The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” ^8 (D)Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as ^(E)some of them did, and ^(F)in one day twenty-three thousand fell; ⁹ nor let us ^[a]tempt Christ, as ^(G)some of them also tempted, and ^(H)were destroyed by serpents; ¹⁰ nor complain, as ^(I)some of them also complained, and ^(J)were destroyed by ^(K)the destroyer.

^8 (A)I will set My face against that man and make him a ^(B)sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of My people. ^(C)Then you shall know that I am the Lord.
