⁴¹ The next morning Balak took Balaam up to Bamoth Baal,^(A) and from there he could see the outskirts of the Israelite camp.^(B)

Balaam’s Second Message

¹³ Then Balak said to him, “Come with me to another place^(A) where you can see them; you will not see them all but only the outskirts of their camp.^(B) And from there, curse them for me.^(C)”

¹⁵ when he appointed^(A) his own priests^(B) for the high places and for the goat^(C) and calf^(D) idols he had made.

² Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains,^(A) on the hills and under every spreading tree,^(B) where the nations you are dispossessing worship their gods.

² who invited them to the sacrifices^(A) to their gods.^(B) The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods. ³ So Israel yoked themselves to^(C) the Baal of Peor.^(D) And the Lord’s anger burned against them.
