²⁸ Moses stripped Aaron of his vestments and put them on his son Eleazar, and Aaron died there on the top of the mountain. Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.^(A)

⁶ (The Israelites journeyed from Beeroth-bene-jaakan^[a] to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried; his son Eleazar succeeded him as priest.^(A)

²⁹ “The sacred vestments of Aaron shall be passed on to his sons after him; they shall be anointed in them and ordained in them.^{(A) 30} The son who is priest in his place shall wear them seven days when he comes into the tent of meeting to minister in the holy place.^(B)

¹⁵ And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.

²⁴ but he holds his priesthood permanently because he continues forever. ²⁵ Consequently, he is able for all time to save^[a] those who approach God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.^(A)

²⁵ “And now I know that none of you, among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom, will ever see my face again.^{(A) 26} Therefore I declare to you this day that I am not responsible for the blood of any of you,^{(B) 27} for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.^{(C) 28} Keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock, of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God^[a] that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.^{[b](D) 29} I know that after I have gone, savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.^(E)

⁵ And of all my sons, for the Lord has given me many, he has chosen my son Solomon to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.^{(A) 6} He said to me, ‘It is your son Solomon who shall build my house and my courts, for I have chosen him to be a son to me, and I will be a father to him.^{(B) 7} I will establish his kingdom forever, if he continues resolute in keeping my commandments and my ordinances, as he is today.’^{(C) 8} Now therefore in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God, observe and search out all the commandments of the Lord your God, that you may possess this good land and leave it for an inheritance to your children after you forever.

⁹ “And you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with single mind and willing heart, for the Lord searches every mind and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will abandon you forever.^(D)

¹⁷ David also commanded all the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon, saying,^(A)

¹¹ Now, my son, the Lord be with you, so that you may succeed in building the house of the Lord your God, as he has spoken concerning you.^{(A) 12} Only, may the Lord grant you discretion and understanding, so that when he gives you charge over Israel you may keep the law of the Lord your God.^(B)
