^15 (A)how our fathers went down to Egypt, ^(B)and we lived in Egypt a long time. ^(C)And the Egyptians dealt harshly with us and our fathers.

⁶ And ^(A)the Egyptians treated us harshly and humiliated us and laid on us hard labor.

⁴⁰ The time that the people of Israel lived in Egypt was 430 years.

⁶ They also took their livestock and their goods, which they had gained in the land of Canaan, and ^(A)came into Egypt, Jacob and all his offspring with him,

¹⁵ And ^(A)Jacob went down into Egypt, and ^(B)he died, he ^(C)and our fathers,

¹³ Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain ^(A)that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and ^(B)they will be afflicted for ^(C)four hundred years.

^19 (A)He dealt shrewdly with our race and forced our fathers to expose their infants, ^(B)so that they would not be kept alive.

¹³ Is it ^(A)a small thing that you have brought us up out of ^(B)a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you must also ^(C)make yourself a prince over us?

^5 (A)We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.

¹⁴ And the foremen of the people of Israel, whom Pharaoh's ^(A)taskmasters had set over them, were beaten and were asked, “Why have you not done all your task of making bricks today and yesterday, as in the past?”
