¹¹ Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; ^(A)and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.

⁴ and all drank the same ^(A)spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

^6 (A)Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.”

And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

¹⁵ who ^(A)led you through that great and terrible wilderness, ^(B)in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; ^(C)who brought water for you out of the flinty rock;

^8 (A)“Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus ^(B)you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.”

²⁰ for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

^20 (A)teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am ^(B)with you always, even to the end of the age.” ^[a]Amen.

¹³ For ^(A)because you did not do it the first time, ^(B)the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him ^[a]about the proper order.”
