¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them, ^(A)“Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?”

² For ^(A)we all stumble in many things. ^(B)If anyone does not stumble in word, ^(C)he is a ^[a]perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

^26 (A)“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,

¹⁷ Therefore I have reason to glory in Christ Jesus ^(A)in the things which pertain to God. ¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak of any of those things ^(B)which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, ^(C)to make the Gentiles obedient— ^19 (D)in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

³ Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! For you sit to judge me according to the law, and ^(A)do you command me to be struck contrary to the law?”

⁴ And those who stood by said, “Do you revile God’s high priest?”

⁵ Then Paul said, ^(B)“I did not know, brethren, that he was the high priest; for it is written, ^(C)‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’ ”

⁹ This man heard Paul speaking. ^[a]Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, ¹⁰ said with a loud voice, ^(A)“Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked. ¹¹ Now when the people saw what Paul had done, they raised their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, ^(B)“The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” ¹² And Barnabas they called ^[b]Zeus, and Paul, ^[c]Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. ¹³ Then the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, ^(C)intending to sacrifice with the multitudes.

¹⁴ But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this, ^(D)they tore their clothes and ran in among the multitude, crying out ¹⁵ and saying, “Men, ^(E)why are you doing these things? ^(F)We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from ^(G)these useless things ^(H)to the living God, ^(I)who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them,

¹² So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? ^13 (A)The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, ^(B)glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you ^(C)delivered up and ^(D)denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. ¹⁴ But you denied ^(E)the Holy One ^(F)and the Just, and ^(G)asked for a murderer to be granted to you, ¹⁵ and killed the ^[a]Prince of life, ^(H)whom God raised from the dead, ^(I)of which we are witnesses. ^16 (J)And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

⁵⁴ And when His disciples ^(A)James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, ^[a]just as ^(B)Elijah did?”

⁵⁵ But He turned and rebuked them, ^[b]and said, “You do not know what manner of ^(C)spirit you are of.
