³ They shall keep guard over you and ^(A)over the whole tent, ^(B)but shall not come near to the vessels of the sanctuary or to the altar ^(C)lest they, and you, die.

¹⁵ And when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, as the camp sets out, after that ^(A)the sons of Kohath shall come to carry these, ^(B)but they must not touch the holy things, lest they die. These are the things of the tent of meeting that the sons of Kohath are to carry.

⁴⁰ to be a reminder to the people of Israel, so ^(A)that no outsider, who is not of the descendants of Aaron, should draw near to burn incense before the Lord, lest he become like Korah and his company—as the Lord said to him through Moses.

¹⁹ but deal thus with them, that they may live and not die when they come near to ^(A)the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in and appoint them each to his task and to his burden, ^20 (B)but they shall not go in to look on the holy things even for a moment, lest they die.”

^36 (A)And the appointed guard duty of the sons of Merari involved the ^(B)frames of the tabernacle, ^(C)the bars, ^(D)the pillars, the bases, and all their accessories; all the service connected with these;

³¹ And their guard duty involved ^(A)the ark, ^(B)the table, ^(C)the lampstand, ^(D)the altars, the vessels of the sanctuary with which the priests minister, and ^(E)the screen; all the service connected with these.

²⁵ And the ^(A)guard duty of the sons of Gershon in the tent of meeting involved ^(B)the tabernacle, ^(C)the tent with ^(D)its covering, ^(E)the screen for the entrance of the tent of meeting,

⁷ And ^(A)you and your sons with you shall guard your priesthood for all that concerns the altar and ^(B)that is within the veil; and you shall serve. I give your priesthood as a gift,^[a] and ^(C)any outsider who comes near shall be put to death.”

^51 (A)When the tabernacle is to set out, the Levites shall take it down, and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up. ^(B)And if any outsider comes near, he shall be put to death.
