⁵ Then he said to Korah and all his followers: “In the morning the Lord will show who belongs to him and who is holy,^(A) and he will have that person come near him.^(B) The man he chooses^(C) he will cause to come near him.

⁵ The staff belonging to the man I choose^(A) will sprout,^(B) and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling^(C) against you by the Israelites.”

³ Moses then said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke of when he said:

Aaron remained silent.

¹⁹ Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm,^(A) sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,”^(B) and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord^(C) must turn away from wickedness.”

³ They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron^(A) and said to them, “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy,^(B) every one of them, and the Lord is with them.^(C) Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”^(D)

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying:^(A)

⁶ and has made us to be a kingdom and priests^(A) to serve his God and Father^(B)—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.^(C)

⁵ you also, like living stones, are being built^(A) into a spiritual house^[a](B) to be a holy priesthood,^(C) offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.^{(D) 6} For in Scripture it says:

⁷ Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,^(G)

⁸ and,

They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.^(K)

⁹ But you are a chosen people,^(L) a royal priesthood,^(M) a holy nation,^(N) God’s special possession,^(O) that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.^(P)
