^34 (A)According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, ^(B)forty days, a year for each day, you shall bear your iniquity forty years, and you shall know my displeasure.’

⁶ And when you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side, and ^(A)bear ^(B)the punishment of the house of Judah. ^(C)Forty days I assign you, a day for each year.

Report of the Spies

²⁵ At the end of forty days they returned from spying out the land.

⁹ And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will ^(A)build and plant it, ¹⁰ and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will relent of the good that I had intended to do to it.

The Seventy Weeks

^24 (A)“Seventy weeks^[a] are decreed about your people and ^(B)your holy city, to finish ^(C)the transgression, to put an end to sin, ^(D)and to atone for iniquity, ^(E)to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and ^(F)to anoint a most holy place.^[b]

²¹ to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had ^(A)enjoyed its Sabbaths. All the days that it lay desolate ^(B)it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.

³⁰ Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ^(A)‘I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ ^(B)but now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

¹⁶ And the Lord said to Moses, ^(A)“Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers. Then this people will rise and ^(B)whore after the foreign gods among them in the land that they are entering, and they will ^(C)forsake me and ^(D)break my covenant that I have made with them. ¹⁷ Then my anger will be kindled against them in that day, and ^(E)I will forsake them and ^(F)hide my face from them, and they will be devoured. And many evils and troubles will come upon them, so that they will say in that day, ^(G)‘Have not these evils come upon us because ^(H)our God is not among us?’
