³³ And there we saw the ^(A)Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the ^(B)Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves ^(C)like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”

²⁸ Where are we going up? ^(A)Our brothers have made our hearts melt, saying, ^(B)“The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to heaven. And besides, we have seen ^(C)the sons of the Anakim there.”’

⁴ The Nephilim^[a] were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

²³ And he struck down an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits^[a] tall. The Egyptian had in his hand a spear ^(A)like a weaver's beam, but Benaiah went down to him with a staff and snatched the spear out of the Egyptian's hand and killed him with his own spear.

²⁰ And there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number, and he also was descended ^(A)from the giants. ²¹ And when ^(B)he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David's brother, struck him down. ²² These four were descended ^(C)from the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.

⁴² And when the Philistine looked and saw David, he disdained him, for he was but a youth, ^(A)ruddy and handsome in appearance.
