¹⁷ Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan and said to them, “Go up into ^(A)the Negeb and go up into ^(B)the hill country,

⁹ And afterward the men of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who lived in ^(A)the hill country, in the Negeb, and in ^(B)the lowland.

⁹ And Abram journeyed on, still going toward the Negeb.

^19 (A)And the Lord was with Judah, and he took possession of the ^(B)hill country, but he could not drive out the inhabitants of the plain because they had ^(C)chariots of iron.

¹⁵ She said to him, “Give me a blessing. Since you have set me in the land of the Negeb, give me also springs of water.” And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

³ It goes out southward of ^(A)the ascent of Akrabbim, passes along to Zin, and goes up south of Kadesh-barnea, along by Hezron, up to Addar, turns about to Karka,

Abram and Lot Separate

13 So Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, ^(A)into the Negeb.

^44 (A)Then the Amorites who lived in that hill country came out against you and chased you ^(B)as bees do and beat you down in Seir as far as ^(C)Hormah.

⁴⁰ And they rose early in the morning and went up to the heights of the hill country, saying, ^(A)“Here we are. We will go up to the place that the Lord has promised, for we have sinned.”

^29 (A)The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negeb. The Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country. ^(B)And the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan.”
