Dissension of Aaron and Miriam

12 Then ^(A)Miriam and Aaron ^[a]spoke ^(B)against Moses because of the ^[b]Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for ^(C)he had married an Ethiopian woman.

²¹ Then Moses was content to live with the man, and he gave ^(A)Zipporah his daughter to Moses.

^34 (A)When Esau was forty years old, he took as wives Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite. ³⁵ And ^(B)they were a grief of mind to Isaac and Rebekah.

⁴⁶ And Rebekah said to Isaac, ^(A)“I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth; ^(B)if Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, like these who are the daughters of the land, what good will my life be to me?”

³⁷ Now my master ^(A)made me swear, saying, ‘You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell;

¹⁶ Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?

¹⁴ And they said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is ^(A)uncircumcised, for ^(B)that would be a reproach to us. ¹⁵ But on this condition we will consent to you: If you will become as we are, if every male of you is circumcised,

Esau Marries Mahalath

⁶ Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padan Aram to take himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, “You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan,” ⁷ and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram. ⁸ Also Esau saw ^(A)that the daughters of Canaan did not please his father Isaac. ⁹ So Esau went to Ishmael and ^(B)took ^(C)Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, ^(D)the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife in addition to the wives he had.

³ and I will make you ^(A)swear^[a] by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that ^(B)you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;

⁵ For ^(A)even His ^(B)brothers did not believe in Him.
