²⁵ Then the Lord came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and placed the same upon the seventy elders; and it happened, ^(A)when the Spirit rested upon them, that ^(B)they prophesied, ^[a]although they never did so again.

¹⁷ Then I will come down and talk with you there. ^(A)I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone.

God’s Spirit Poured Out

^10 (A)When they came there to the hill, there was ^(B)a group of prophets to meet him; then the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

^5 (A)Then the Lord came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward.

²¹ for ^(A)prophecy never came by the will of man, ^(B)but ^[a]holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Prophecy and Tongues

14 Pursue love, and ^(A)desire spiritual gifts, ^(B)but especially that you may prophesy. ² For he who ^(C)speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. ³ But he who prophesies speaks ^(D)edification and ^(E)exhortation and comfort to men.

¹⁵ Now when the sons of the prophets who were ^(A)from^[a] Jericho saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.
