²² Are there enough flocks and herds to slaughter for them? Are there enough fish in the sea to catch for them?”^(A)

³³ The disciples said to him, “Where are we to get enough bread in the desert to feed so great a crowd?”

² Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, “Even if the Lord were to make windows in the sky, could such a thing happen?” But he said, “You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat from it.”^(A)

⁹ “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they among so many people?”

⁶ He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he was going to do. ⁷ Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little.”

³⁴ Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”^[a]

¹⁸ Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I know that this will happen? For I am an old man, and my wife is getting on in years.”^(A)

⁴ His disciples replied, “How can one feed these people with bread here in the desert?”

³⁷ But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?”^(A)
