^26 (A)a bekah for ^[a]each man (that is, half a shekel, according to the shekel of the sanctuary), for everyone included in the numbering from twenty years old and above, for ^(B)six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty men.

^12 (A)“When you take the census of the children of Israel for their number, then every man shall give ^(B)a^[a] ransom for himself to the Lord, when you number them, that there may be no ^(C)plague among them when you number them.

¹⁸ and they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they recited their ^(A)ancestry by families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, each one individually.

^2 (A)“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel ^(B)from twenty years old and above, by their fathers’ houses, all who are able to go to war in Israel.” ³ So Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them ^(C)in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho, saying: ⁴ “Take a census of the people from twenty years old and above, just as the Lord ^(D)commanded Moses and the children of Israel who came out of the land of Egypt.”

21 Now ^(B)Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to ^[a]number Israel. ² So David said to Joab and to the leaders of the people, “Go, number Israel from Beersheba to Dan, ^(C)and bring the number of them to me that I may know it.”

24 Again ^(B)the anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel, and He moved David against them to say, ^(C)“Go, ^[a]number Israel and Judah.”

² So the king said to Joab the commander of the army who was with him, “Now go throughout all the tribes of Israel, ^(D)from Dan to Beersheba, and count the people, that ^(E)I may know the number of the people.”

³ And Joab said to the king, “Now may the Lord your God ^(F)add to the people a hundred times more than there are, and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king desire this thing?”
