^17 (A)But the firstborn of a cow, the firstborn of a sheep, or the firstborn of a goat you shall not redeem; they are holy. ^(B)You shall sprinkle their blood on the altar, and burn their fat as an offering made by fire for a sweet aroma to the Lord.

The Law Concerning Firstborn Animals

^19 (A)“All the firstborn males that come from your herd and your flock you shall ^[a]sanctify to the Lord your God; you shall do no work with the firstborn of your herd, nor shear the firstborn of your flock. ^20 (B)You and your household shall eat it before the Lord your God year by year in the place which the Lord chooses. ^21 (C)But if there is a defect in it, if it is lame or blind or has any serious defect, you shall not sacrifice it to the Lord your God. ²² You may eat it within your gates; ^(D)the unclean and the clean person alike may eat it, as if it were a gazelle or a deer.

² And ^(A)he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of meeting; and Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall ^(B)sprinkle the blood all around on the altar. ³ Then he shall offer from the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire to the Lord. ^(C)The fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, ⁴ the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he shall remove; ⁵ and Aaron’s sons ^(D)shall burn it on the altar upon the ^(E)burnt sacrifice, which is on the wood that is on the fire, as an ^(F)offering made by fire, a ^(G)sweet aroma to the Lord.

¹⁶ and you shall kill the ram, and you shall take its blood and ^(A)sprinkle it all around on the altar.
