²³ not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath^(A) to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt^(B) will ever see it.^(C)

¹¹ ‘Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, not one of those who were twenty years old or more^(A) when they came up out of Egypt^(B) will see the land I promised on oath^(C) to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob^(D)—

¹⁵ Also with uplifted hand I swore^(A) to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands^(B)—

⁶⁴ Not one of them was among those counted^(A) by Moses and Aaron^(B) the priest when they counted the Israelites in the Desert of Sinai.

¹⁷ And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness?^{(A) 18} And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest^(B) if not to those who disobeyed?^(C)
