⁴⁴ The Lord also said to Moses, ⁴⁵ “Take the Levites in place of all the firstborn of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites in place of their livestock. The Levites are to be mine.^(A) I am the Lord.^{(B) 46} To redeem^(C) the 273 firstborn Israelites who exceed the number of the Levites, ⁴⁷ collect five shekels^[a](D) for each one, according to the sanctuary shekel,^(E) which weighs twenty gerahs.^(F)

¹⁵ The first offspring of every womb, both human and animal, that is offered to the Lord is yours.^(A) But you must redeem^(B) every firstborn^(C) son and every firstborn male of unclean animals.^(D)

¹⁶ When they are a month old,^(A) you must redeem them at the redemption price set at five shekels^[a](B) of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel,^(C) which weighs twenty gerahs.^(D)
