Les frontières du pays promis
34 L’Eternel parla à Moïse, en disant : 2 Ordonne aux Israélites : Quand vous serez entrés dans le pays de Canaan, voici quel territoire vous reviendra en possession : ses frontières sont les suivantes[a] : 3 la limite méridionale de votre pays partira du désert de Tsîn et longera le pays d’Edom. A l’est, votre frontière sud partira de la mer Morte ; 4 elle obliquera au sud vers la montée des Scorpions et passera par Tsîn pour aboutir au sud de Qadesh-Barnéa. Elle ira ensuite vers Hatsar-Addar, et passera à Atsmôn. 5 De là, elle se dirigera vers le torrent d’Egypte pour aboutir à la mer. 6 La mer Méditerranée[b] constituera votre frontière à l’ouest. 7 Au nord, vous ferez aller votre frontière de la mer Méditerranée jusqu’à la montagne de Hor[c]. 8 De là, vous la ferez aller en direction de Lebo-Hamath[d] pour aboutir à Tsedad. 9 De là, elle repartira en direction de Ziphrôn et atteindra Hatsar-Enân. Ce sera là votre frontière nord. 10 A l’est, vous ferez aller votre frontière de Hatsar-Enân à Shepham, 11 d’où elle descendra vers Ribla à l’est d’Aïn et suivra les pentes qui bordent la rive orientale du lac de Kinnéreth[e] 12 jusqu’au Jourdain pour aboutir à la mer Morte. Voilà ce que sera votre pays avec les frontières qui l’entourent.
13 Moïse donna les instructions suivantes aux Israélites : C’est là le territoire que vous partagerez par tirage au sort et que l’Eternel a ordonné d’attribuer aux neuf tribus et demie[f]. 14 Car la tribu de Ruben et celle de Gad ont déjà reçu leur propriété pour leur tribu, de même que la demi-tribu de Manassé. 15 Ces deux tribus et demie ont reçu leur patrimoine foncier de ce côté-ci du Jourdain, en face de Jéricho, à l’est.
Les responsables du partage du pays
16 L’Eternel parla encore à Moïse : 17 Voici les noms des hommes qui procéderont au partage du pays entre vous : le prêtre Eléazar et Josué, fils de Noun. 18 De plus, vous prendrez un chef par tribu pour répartir le pays. 19 Voici les noms de ces hommes : Pour la tribu de Juda : Caleb, fils de Yephounné ; 20 pour celle de Siméon : Samuel, fils d’Ammihoud ; 21 pour celle de Benjamin : Elidad, fils de Kislôn ; 22 pour celle de Dan : le chef Bouqqi, fils de Yogli ; 23 pour les descendants de Joseph, pour la tribu de Manassé : le chef Hanniel, fils d’Ephod ; 24 pour celle d’Ephraïm : le chef Qemouel, fils de Shiphtân ; 25 pour celle de Zabulon ; le prince Elitsaphân, fils de Parnak ; 26 pour celle d’Issacar : le prince Paltiel, fils d’Azzân ; 27 pour celle d’Aser : le chef Ahihoud, fils de Shelomi ; 28 pour celle de Nephtali : le chef Pedahel, fils d’Ammihoud. 29 Tels sont ceux à qui l’Eternel ordonna de répartir le pays de Canaan entre les Israélites.

34 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Give this command to the people of Israel: ‘You will soon enter Canaan. It will be yours. These shall be the borders. 3 On the south you will get part of the Desert of Zin. This is near the border of Edom. On the east side your southern border will start at the south end of the Dead Sea. 4 It will cross south of Scorpion Pass. It will go through the Desert of Zin and south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon. 5 From Azmon it will go to the brook of Egypt. It will end at the Mediterranean Sea.
6 “‘Your western border will be the Mediterranean Sea.
7 “‘Your northern border will begin at the Mediterranean Sea and go to Mount Hor. 8 From Mount Hor it will go to Lebo Hamath. Then it will go to Zedad. 9 Then the border will go to Ziphron and end at Hazar Enan. This will be your northern border.
10 “‘Your eastern border will begin at Hazar Enan and go to Shepham. 11 From Shepham the border will go east of Ain to Riblah. It will go along the hills east of Lake Galilee. 12 Then the border will go down along the Jordan River. It will end at the Dead Sea.
“‘These are the borders around your country.’”
13 So Moses gave this command to the Israelites: “This is the land you will receive. Throw lots to divide it among the nine and a half tribes. The Lord commanded that it should be theirs. 14 The tribes of Reuben and Gad and the eastern half-tribe of Manasseh have already received their land. 15 These two and a half tribes received land east of the Jordan River. It is across from Jericho.”
16 Then the Lord said to Moses, 17 “These are the men who will divide the land: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun. 18 Also take one leader from each tribe. They will divide the land. 19 These are the names of the leaders: from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh; 20 from the tribe of Simeon, Shemuel son of Ammihud; 21 from the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad son of Kislon; 22 from the tribe of Dan, Bukki son of Jogli; 23 from the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph, Hanniel son of Ephod; 24 from the tribe of Ephraim son of Joseph, Kemuel son of Shiphtan; 25 from the tribe of Zebulun, Elizaphan son of Parnach; 26 from the tribe of Issachar, Paltiel son of Azzan; 27 from the tribe of Asher, Ahihud son of Shelomi; 28 from the tribe of Naphtali, Pedahel son of Ammihud.”
29 The Lord commanded these men to divide the land of Canaan among the Israelites.

34 (A)Il Signore disse ancora a *Mosè: 2 «Da' quest'ordine ai figli d'*Israele e di' loro: “Quando entrerete nel paese di *Canaan, questo sarà il paese che vi toccherà come eredità: il paese di Canaan, di cui ecco i confini:
3 la vostra regione *meridionale comincerà al deserto di Sin, vicino a *Edom; cosí la vostra frontiera meridionale partirà dall'estremità del mar Salato, verso oriente; 4 e questa frontiera volgerà al sud della salita di Acrabbim, passerà per Sin e si estenderà a mezzogiorno di Cades-Barnea; poi continuerà verso Casar-Addar e passerà per Asmon. 5 Da Asmon la frontiera girerà fino al torrente d'Egitto, e finirà al mare.
6 La vostra frontiera a occidente sarà il mar Grande[a]: quella sarà la vostra frontiera occidentale.
7 Questa sarà la vostra frontiera settentrionale: partendo dal mar Grande, la traccerete fino al monte Or; 8 dal monte Or la traccerete fino all'entrata di Camat, e l'estremità della frontiera sarà a Sedad; 9 la frontiera continuerà fino a Zifron, per finire a Casar-Enan: questa sarà la vostra frontiera settentrionale.
10 Traccerete la vostra frontiera orientale da Casar-Enan a Sefam; 11 la frontiera scenderà da Sefam verso Ribla, a oriente di Ain; poi la frontiera scenderà, e si estenderà lungo il mare di Chinneret, a oriente; 12 poi la frontiera scenderà verso il *Giordano e finirà al mar Salato. Tale sarà il vostro paese con le sue frontiere tutto intorno!».
13 Mosè trasmise quest'ordine ai figli d'Israele e disse loro: «Questo è il paese che vi distribuirete a sorte, il paese che il Signore ha ordinato si dia a nove tribú e mezzo; 14 poiché la tribú dei figli di *Ruben, secondo le loro famiglie e la tribú dei figli di *Gad, secondo le loro famiglie e la mezza tribú di *Manasse hanno ricevuto la loro porzione. 15 Queste due tribú e mezzo hanno ricevuto la loro porzione a est, oltre il Giordano, all'altezza di *Gerico, verso il levante».
16 (B)Il Signore disse a Mosè: 17 «Questi sono i nomi degli uomini che spartiranno il paese tra di voi: il *sacerdote *Eleazar e *Giosuè, figlio di Nun. 18 Prenderete anche un capo di ogni tribú per spartire il paese.
19 Ecco i nomi di questi uomini.
Per la tribú di *Giuda: *Caleb, figlio di Gefunne.
20 Per la tribú dei figli di *Simeone: Samuele, figlio di Ammiud.
21 Per la tribú di *Beniamino: Elidad, figlio di Chislon.

23 Per i figli di *Giuseppe –per la tribú dei figli di Manasse: il capo Canniel, figlio di Efod – 24 e per la tribú dei figli di *Efraim: il capo Chemuel, figlio di Siftan.
25 Per la tribú dei figli di *Zabulon: il capo Elisafan, figlio di Parnac.
26 Per la tribú dei figli di *Issacar: il capo Paltiel, figlio di Azzan.
27 Per la tribú dei figli di *Ascer: il capo Aiud, figlio di Selomi.
28 E per la tribú dei figli di *Neftali: il capo Pedael, figlio di Ammiud.
29 Queste sono le persone alle quali il Signore ordinò di spartire la proprietà del paese di Canaan tra figli d'Israele.

34 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Command the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter Canaan,(A) the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance(B) is to have these boundaries:(C)
3 “‘Your southern side will include some of the Desert of Zin(D) along the border of Edom. Your southern boundary will start in the east from the southern end of the Dead Sea,(E) 4 cross south of Scorpion Pass,(F) continue on to Zin and go south of Kadesh Barnea.(G) Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon,(H) 5 where it will turn, join the Wadi of Egypt(I) and end at the Mediterranean Sea.
6 “‘Your western boundary will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.(J) This will be your boundary on the west.(K)
7 “‘For your northern boundary,(L) run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor(M) 8 and from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath.(N) Then the boundary will go to Zedad, 9 continue to Ziphron and end at Hazar Enan. This will be your boundary on the north.
10 “‘For your eastern boundary,(O) run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham. 11 The boundary will go down from Shepham to Riblah(P) on the east side of Ain(Q) and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee.[a](R) 12 Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea.
“‘This will be your land, with its boundaries on every side.’”
13 Moses commanded the Israelites: “Assign this land by lot(S) as an inheritance.(T) The Lord has ordered that it be given to the nine and a half tribes, 14 because the families of the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance.(U) 15 These two and a half tribes have received their inheritance east of the Jordan across from Jericho, toward the sunrise.”
16 The Lord said to Moses, 17 “These are the names of the men who are to assign the land for you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua(V) son of Nun. 18 And appoint one leader from each tribe to help(W) assign the land.(X) 19 These are their names:(Y)
