Nehemiah 9:15-17
New International Version
15 In their hunger you gave them bread from heaven(A) and in their thirst you brought them water from the rock;(B) you told them to go in and take possession of the land you had sworn with uplifted hand(C) to give them.(D)
16 “But they, our ancestors, became arrogant and stiff-necked,(E) and they did not obey your commands.(F) 17 They refused to listen and failed to remember(G) the miracles(H) you performed among them. They became stiff-necked(I) and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery.(J) But you are a forgiving God,(K) gracious and compassionate,(L) slow to anger(M) and abounding in love.(N) Therefore you did not desert them,(O)

15 You (A)provided bread from heaven for them for their hunger,
You (B)brought out water from a rock for them for their thirst,
And You (C)told them to enter in order to take possession of
The land which You [a]swore to give them.
16 “But they, our fathers, (D)acted arrogantly;
They [b](E)became stubborn and would not listen to Your commandments.
17 They refused to listen,
And (F)did not remember Your wondrous deeds which You performed among them;
So they became stubborn and (G)appointed a leader to return to their slavery in [c]Egypt.
But You are a God (H)of forgiveness,
Gracious and compassionate,
Slow to anger and abounding in [d]mercy;
And You did not abandon them.

15 (A)You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger and (B)brought water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and you (C)told them to go in to possess the land that you had sworn to give them.
16 “But they and our fathers (D)acted presumptuously and stiffened their neck and did not obey your commandments. 17 They refused to obey (E)and were not mindful of the wonders that you performed among them, but they stiffened their neck and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt.[a] But you are a God ready to forgive, (F)gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them.
