Nehemiah 4:16-18
New English Translation
16 From that day forward, half my men were doing the work and half were taking up spears,[a] shields, bows, and body armor. Now the officers were behind all the people[b] of Judah 17 who were rebuilding the wall.[c] Those who were carrying loads did so[d] by keeping one hand on the work and the other on their weapon. 18 The builders, to a man, had their swords strapped to their sides while they were building. But the trumpeter[e] remained with me.

New International Version
16 From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah 17 who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon(A) in the other, 18 and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet(B) stayed with me.
