3 The number of them that built the walls.
1 Then arose Eliashib the high Priest with his brethren the Priests, and they built the sheep gate: they [a]repaired it, and set up the doors thereof: even unto the tower of Meah repaired they it, and unto the tower of Hananel.
2 And next unto him built the men of Jericho, and beside him Zaccur the son of Imri.
3 But the fish port did the sons of Senaah build, which also laid the beams thereof, and set on the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
4 And next unto them fortified Meremoth, the son of Urijah, the son of Koz: and next unto them fortified Meshullam, the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel: and next unto them fortified Zadok, the son of Baana:
5 And next unto them fortified the Tekoites: but the great men of them [b]put not their necks to the works of their lords.
6 And the gate of the (A)old fish pool fortified Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah: they laid the beams thereof, and set on the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
7 Next unto them also fortified Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, unto the [c]throne of the Duke, which was beyond the River.
8 Next unto him fortified Uzziel the son of Harhaiah [d]of the goldsmiths: next unto him also fortified Hananiah the son [e]of Harakkahim, and they repaired Jerusalem unto the broad wall.
9 Also next unto them fortified Rephaiah, the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem.
10 And next unto him fortified Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, even over against his house: and next unto him fortified Hattush the son of Hashabniah.
11 Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahath-Moab fortified the second [f]portion, and the tower of the furnaces.
12 Next unto him also fortified Shallum the son of Hallohesh, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.
13 The valley gate fortified Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah: they built it, and set on the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, even a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung port.
14 But the dung port fortified Malchijah the son of Rechab, the ruler of the fourth part of Beth Haccarem: he built it, and set on the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
15 But the gate of the fountain fortified Shallun the son of Col-Hozeh, the ruler of the fourth part of Mizpah: he built it, and covered it, and set on the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall unto the fish pool of [g]Shelah by the king’s garden, and unto the steps that go down from the city of David.
16 After him fortified Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Beth Zur until the other side over against the sepulchers of David and to the fish pool that was repaired, and unto the house of the mighty.
17 After him fortified the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani, and the next unto him fortified Hashabiah the ruler of the half part of Keilah in his quarter.
18 After him fortified their brethren: Bavai, the son of Henadad the ruler of the half part of Keilah:
19 And next unto him fortified Ezer, the son of Jeshua the ruler of Mizpah, the other portion over against the going up to the [h]corner of the armor.
20 After him was earnest Baruch the son of Zabbai, and fortified another portion from the corner unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high Priest.
21 After him fortified Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz, another portion from the door of the house of Eliashib, even as long as the house of Eliashib extended.
22 After him also fortified the Priests, the men of [i]the plain.
23 After them fortified Benjamin, and Hasshub over against their house: after him fortified Azariah the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, by his house.
24 After him fortified Binnui, the son of Henadad another portion, from the house of Azariah unto the turning and unto the corner.
25 Palal, the son of Uzai, from over against the corner, and the high tower, that lieth out from the King’s house, which is beside the court of the prison. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.
26 And the [j]Nethinim they dwelt in the fortress unto the place over against the water gate Eastward, and to the tower that lieth out.
27 After him fortified the Tekoites another portion over against the great tower that lieth out even unto the wall of the fortress.
28 From above the horse gate forth fortified the Priests, every one over against his house.
29 After them fortified Zadok the son of Immer over against his house: and after him fortified Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah the keeper of the East gate.
30 After him fortified Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the son of Zalaph, the [k]sixth, another portion: after him fortified Meshullam, the son of Berechiah, over against his chamber.
31 After him fortified Malchijah the goldsmith’s son, until the house of the Nethinim, and of the Merchants over against the gate [l]Miphkad, and to the chamber in the corner.
32 And between the chamber of the corner unto the sheep gate fortified the goldsmiths and the merchants.

Rebuilding the Wall
3 Then (A)Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests, and they built (B)the Sheep Gate. They consecrated it and (C)set its doors. They consecrated it as far as the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the (D)Tower of Hananel. 2 And next to him (E)the men of Jericho built. And next to them[a] Zaccur the son of Imri built.
3 The sons of Hassenaah built (F)the Fish Gate. (G)They laid its beams and (H)set its doors, its bolts, and its bars. 4 And next to them (I)Meremoth the son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz repaired. And next to them (J)Meshullam the son of Berechiah, son of Meshezabel repaired. And next to them Zadok the son of Baana repaired. 5 And next to them (K)the Tekoites repaired, but their nobles would not stoop to serve their Lord.[b]
6 Joiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah (L)repaired the Gate of Yeshanah.[c] (M)They laid its beams and (N)set its doors, its bolts, and its bars. 7 And next to them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, the seat of (O)the governor of the province Beyond the River. 8 Next to them Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, goldsmiths, repaired. Next to him Hananiah, one of the perfumers, repaired, and they restored Jerusalem as far as (P)the Broad Wall. 9 Next to them Rephaiah the son of Hur, (Q)ruler of half the district of[d] Jerusalem, repaired. 10 Next to them Jedaiah the son of Harumaph repaired opposite his house. And next to him Hattush the son of Hashabneiah repaired. 11 Malchijah the son of Harim and Hasshub the son of Pahath-moab repaired another section and (R)the Tower of the Ovens. 12 Next to him Shallum the son of Hallohesh, (S)ruler of half the district of Jerusalem, repaired, he and his daughters.
13 Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah repaired (T)the Valley Gate. They rebuilt it and (U)set its doors, its bolts, and its bars, and repaired a thousand cubits[e] of the wall, as far as (V)the Dung Gate.
14 Malchijah the son of Rechab, ruler of the district of (W)Beth-haccherem, repaired (X)the Dung Gate. He rebuilt it and (Y)set its doors, its bolts, and its bars.
15 And Shallum the son of Col-hozeh, ruler of the district of Mizpah, repaired (Z)the Fountain Gate. He rebuilt it and covered it and (AA)set its doors, its bolts, and its bars. And he built the wall of (AB)the Pool of Shelah of (AC)the king's garden, as far as (AD)the stairs that go down from the city of David. 16 After him Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, ruler of half the district of Beth-zur, repaired to a point opposite (AE)the tombs of David, as far as (AF)the artificial pool, and as far as the house of the mighty men. 17 After him the Levites repaired: Rehum the son of Bani. Next to him Hashabiah, ruler of half the district of Keilah, repaired for his district. 18 After him their brothers repaired: Bavvai the son of Henadad, ruler of half the district of Keilah. 19 Next to him Ezer the son of Jeshua, ruler of Mizpah, repaired another section opposite the ascent to the armory at (AG)the buttress.[f] 20 After him Baruch the son of Zabbai repaired[g] another section from the buttress to the door of the house of (AH)Eliashib the high priest. 21 After him (AI)Meremoth the son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz repaired another section from the door of the house of Eliashib to the end of the house of Eliashib. 22 After him the priests, the men of (AJ)the surrounding area, repaired. 23 After them Benjamin and Hasshub repaired opposite their house. After them Azariah the son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah repaired beside his own house. 24 After him Binnui the son of Henadad repaired another section, from the house of Azariah to the buttress and to (AK)the corner. 25 Palal the son of Uzai repaired opposite the buttress and the tower projecting from the upper house of the king at (AL)the court of the guard. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh 26 (AM)and the temple servants living on (AN)Ophel repaired to a point opposite (AO)the Water Gate on the east and the projecting tower. 27 After him (AP)the Tekoites repaired another section opposite the great projecting tower as far as the wall of Ophel.
28 Above (AQ)the Horse Gate the priests repaired, each one opposite his own house. 29 After them Zadok the son of Immer repaired opposite his own house. After him Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah, the keeper of the East Gate, repaired. 30 After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph repaired another section. After him (AR)Meshullam the son of Berechiah repaired opposite (AS)his chamber. 31 After him Malchijah, one of the goldsmiths, repaired as far as the house of the temple servants and of the merchants, opposite the Muster Gate,[h] and to the upper chamber of the corner. 32 And between the upper chamber of the corner and (AT)the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and the merchants repaired.

3 Och översteprästen Eljasib och hans bröder, prästerna, stodo upp och byggde Fårporten, vilken de helgade, och i vilken de sedan satte in dörrarna. Vidare byggde de ända fram till Hammeatornet, som de helgade, och vidare fram till Hananeltornet.
2 Därbredvid byggde Jerikos män; och därbredvid byggde Sackur, Imris son.
3 Fiskporten byggdes av Hassenaas barn; de timrade upp den och satte in dess dörrar, dess riglar och bommar.
4 Därbredvid arbetade Meremot, son till Uria, son till Hackos, på att sätta muren i stånd; därbredvid arbetade Mesullam, son till Berekja, son till Mesesabel; och därbredvid arbetade Sadok, Baanas son.

7 Därbredvid arbetade gibeoniten Melatja och meronotiten Jadon jämte männen från Gibeon och Mispa, som lydde under ståthållaren i landet på andra sidan floden.
8 Därbredvid arbetade Ussiel, Harhajas son, jämte guldsmederna; och därbredvid arbetade Hananja, en av salvoberedarna. Det nästföljande stycket av Jerusalem lät man vara, ända till Breda muren.
9 Därbredvid arbetade Refaja, Hurs son, hövdingen över ena hälften av Jerusalems område.
10 Därbredvid arbetade Jedaja, Harumafs son, mitt emot sitt eget hus; och därbredvid arbetade Hattus, Hasabnejas son.
11 En annan sträcka sattes i stånd av Malkia, Harims son, och av Hassub, Pahat-Moabs son, och därjämte Ugnstornet.
12 Därbredvid arbetade Sallum, Hallohes' son, hövdingen över andra hälften av Jerusalems område, han själv med sina döttrar.
13 Dalporten sattes i stånd av Hanun och Sanoas invånare; de byggde upp den och satte in dess dörrar, dess riglar och bommar. De byggde ock ett tusen alnar på muren, ända fram till Dyngporten.
14 Och Dyngporten sattes i stånd av Malkia, Rekabs son, hövdingen över Bet-Hackerems område; han byggde upp den och satte in dess dörrar, dess riglar och bommar.
15 Och Källporten sattes i stånd av Sallun, Kol-Hoses son, hövdingen över Mispas område; han byggde upp den och lade tak därpå och satte in dess dörrar, dess riglar och bommar. Han byggde ock muren vid Vattenledningsdammen, invid den kungliga trädgården, ända fram till trapporna som föra ned från Davids stad.
16 Därnäst sattes ett stycke i stånd av Nehemja, Asbuks son, hövdingen över ena hälften av Bet-Surs område, nämligen stycket ända fram till platsen mitt emot Davidsgravarna och vidare fram till den grävda dammen och till Hjältehuset.
17 Därnäst arbetade leviterna under Rehum, Banis son; därbredvid arbetade Hasabja, hövdingen över ena hälften av Kegilas område, för sitt område.
18 Därnäst arbetade deras bröder under Bavai, Henadads son, hövdingen över andra hälften av Kegilas område.
19 Därbredvid sattes en annan sträcka i stånd av Eser, Jesuas son, hövdingen över Mispa, nämligen från platsen mitt emot uppgången till tyghuset i Vinkeln.
20 Därnäst sattes, under ivrigt arbete, en annan sträcka i stånd av Baruk, Sabbais son, från Vinkeln ända fram till ingången till översteprästen Eljasibs hus.
21 Därnäst sattes en annan sträcka i stånd av Meremot, son till Uria, son till Hackos, från ingången till Eljasibs hus ända dit där Eljasibs hus slutar.
22 Därnäst arbetade prästerna, männen från Jordanslätten.
23 Därnäst arbetade Benjamin och Hassub, mitt emot sitt eget hus; därnäst arbetade Asarja, son till Maaseja, son till Ananja, utmed sitt eget hus.
24 Därnäst sattes en annan sträcka i stånd av Binnui, Henadads son, från Asarjas hus ända fram till Vinkeln och vidare fram till Hörnet.
25 Palal, Usais son, satte i stånd stycket från platsen mitt emot Vinkeln och det torn som skjuter ut från det övre konungshuset, vid fängelsegården; därnäst kom Pedaja, Pareos' son.
26 (Men tempelträlarna bodde på Ofel ända fram till platsen mitt emot Vattenporten mot öster och det utskjutande tornet.)
27 Därnäst sattes en annan sträcka i stånd av tekoaiterna, från platsen mitt emot det stora utskjutande tornet ända fram till Ofelmuren.
28 Ovanför Hästporten arbetade prästerna, var och en mitt emot sitt eget hus.
29 Därnäst arbetade Sadok, Immers son, mitt emot sitt eget hus; och därnäst arbetade Semaja, Sekanjas son, som hade vakten vid Östra porten.
30 Därnäst sattes en annan sträcka i stånd av Hananja, Selemjas son, och Hanun, Salafs sjätte son; därnäst arbetade Mesullam, Berekjas son, mitt emot sin tempelkammare.
31 Därnäst sattes ett stycke i stånd av Malkia, en av guldsmederna, ända fram till tempelträlarnas och köpmännens hus, mitt emot Mönstringsporten och vidare fram till Hörnsalen.
32 Och mellan Hörnsalen och Fårporten arbetade guldsmederna och köpmännen på att sätta muren i stånd.
