44 On that day (A)men were also appointed over the chambers for the supplies, the contributions, the first fruits, and the tithes, to gather into them from the fields of the cities the portions required by the Law for the priests and Levites; for Judah rejoiced over the priests and the Levites who [a]served. 45 For they performed the [b]worship of their God and the service of purification, together with the singers and the gatekeepers (B)in accordance with the command of David and of his son Solomon. 46 For in the days of David and (C)Asaph, in ancient times, there were [c](D)leaders of the singers, songs of praise and songs of thanksgiving to God. 47 So all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and Nehemiah gave the portions due the singers and the gatekeepers (E)as each day required, and they [d](F)set apart the consecrated portion for the Levites, and the Levites [e]set apart the consecrated portion for the sons of Aaron.

44 On that day, people were appointed over the rooms for the things to be stored, the contributions, the early produce, and the tenth-part gifts. They were to gather into them the portions required by the Instruction for the priests and for the Levites from the fields belonging to the towns, for the people of Judah were delighted with the ministry of the priests and the Levites.

45 They performed the service of their God and the service of purification, as did the singers and the gatekeepers, according to the command of David and his son Solomon.

46 Long ago, in the days of David and Asaph, there was a leader of the singers, and there were songs of praise and thanks to God.

47 In the days of Zerubbabel and of Nehemiah all Israel gave the daily portions for the singers and the gatekeepers. They also set aside the portion for the Levites, and the Levites set aside the portion for the Aaronites.
