11 And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.
2 And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.
3 Now these are the chief of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem: but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities, to wit, Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants.
4 And at Jerusalem dwelt certain of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Judah; Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalaleel, of the children of Perez;
5 And Maaseiah the son of Baruch, the son of Colhozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, the son of Shiloni.
6 All the sons of Perez that dwelt at Jerusalem were four hundred threescore and eight valiant men.
7 And these are the sons of Benjamin; Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jesaiah.
8 And after him Gabbai, Sallai, nine hundred twenty and eight.
9 And Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer: and Judah the son of Senuah was second over the city.
10 Of the priests: Jedaiah the son of Joiarib, Jachin.
11 Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, was the ruler of the house of God.
12 And their brethren that did the work of the house were eight hundred twenty and two: and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashur, the son of Malchiah.
13 And his brethren, chief of the fathers, two hundred forty and two: and Amashai the son of Azareel, the son of Ahasai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer,
14 And their brethren, mighty men of valour, an hundred twenty and eight: and their overseer was Zabdiel, the son of one of the great men.
15 Also of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hashub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;
16 And Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chief of the Levites, had the oversight of the outward business of the house of God.
17 And Mattaniah the son of Micha, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, was the principal to begin the thanksgiving in prayer: and Bakbukiah the second among his brethren, and Abda the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.
18 All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred fourscore and four.
19 Moreover the porters, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren that kept the gates, were an hundred seventy and two.
20 And the residue of Israel, of the priests, and the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.
21 But the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel: and Ziha and Gispa were over the Nethinims.
22 The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph, the singers were over the business of the house of God.
23 For it was the king's commandment concerning them, that a certain portion should be for the singers, due for every day.
24 And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people.
25 And for the villages, with their fields, some of the children of Judah dwelt at Kirjatharba, and in the villages thereof, and at Dibon, and in the villages thereof, and at Jekabzeel, and in the villages thereof,
26 And at Jeshua, and at Moladah, and at Bethphelet,
27 And at Hazarshual, and at Beersheba, and in the villages thereof,
28 And at Ziklag, and at Mekonah, and in the villages thereof,
29 And at Enrimmon, and at Zareah, and at Jarmuth,
30 Zanoah, Adullam, and in their villages, at Lachish, and the fields thereof, at Azekah, and in the villages thereof. And they dwelt from Beersheba unto the valley of Hinnom.
31 The children also of Benjamin from Geba dwelt at Michmash, and Aija, and Bethel, and in their villages.
32 And at Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah,
33 Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim,
34 Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat,
35 Lod, and Ono, the valley of craftsmen.
36 And of the Levites were divisions in Judah, and in Benjamin.

Namenlijsten van de bewoners van Jeruzalem
11 De leiders van het volk gingen in Jeruzalem wonen. De rest van de mensen lootte erover wie er in Jeruzalem zouden gaan wonen. Van elke tien mensen zou er één in Jeruzalem gaan wonen. De andere negen zouden in de andere steden gaan wonen. 2 En de mensen prezen iedereen die vrijwillig in Jeruzalem ging wonen. 3 In de steden van Juda woonden ook Israëlieten, priesters, Levieten, tempelknechten en de mensen die afstamden van Salomo's knechten. Zij hadden allemaal een eigen stuk grond in hun eigen stad. Hier volgen de namen van de leiders van de provincie Juda die in Jeruzalem gingen wonen.
4 Van de stam van Juda waren de leiders:
Ataja, de zoon van Uzzia, die een zoon was van Zacharja, die een zoon was van Amarja, die een zoon was van Sefatja, die een zoon was van Mahalaleël, uit de familie van Perez. 5 Verder Maäseja, de zoon van Baruch, die een zoon was van Kolhoze, die een zoon was van Hazaja, die een zoon was van Adaja, die een zoon was van Jojarib, die een zoon was van Zacharia, uit de familie van Siloni. 6 In totaal woonden er 468 mannen uit de familie van Perez in Jeruzalem, allemaal dappere mannen.
7 Van de stam van Benjamin: Sallu, de zoon van Mesullam, die een zoon was van Joëd, die een zoon was van Pedaja, die een zoon was van Kolaja, die een zoon was van Maäseja, die een zoon was van Itiël, die een zoon was van Jesaja. 8 Verder nog Gabbai en Sallai met 928 anderen. 9 Zij stonden onder leiding van Joël, de zoon van Zichri. Juda, de zoon van Senua, was plaatsvervangend hoofd over de stad.
10 De leiders van de priesters waren: Jedaja, de zoon van Jojarib, en Jachin. 11 Verder Seraja, die de leiding had over de tempel. Ze stonden onder leiding van Zabdiël, de zoon van Gedolim.
15 De leiders van de Levieten waren: Semaja, de zoon van Hassub, die een zoon was van Azrikam, die een zoon was van Hasabja, die een zoon was van Bunni. 16 Sabbetai en Jozabad hadden de leiding over de Levieten die buiten de tempel werkten. 17 Mattanja, de zoon van Micha, die een zoon was van Zabdi, die een zoon was van Asaf, was de leider van het koor. Hij was de voorzanger bij het gebed. Hij werd daarbij geholpen door Bakbukja en Abda, de zoon van Sammua, die een zoon was van Galal, die een zoon was van Jedutun. 18 In totaal woonden er 284 Levieten in Jeruzalem.
19 De leiders van de poortwachters waren: Akkub, Talmon en de andere mannen uit hun familie. Zij hielden de wacht bij de poorten. Er waren 172 poortwachters.
20 De rest van de Israëlieten, priesters en Levieten woonde in de andere steden in Juda. Ieder was gaan wonen in het gebied dat altijd van zijn familie was geweest.
21 De tempelknechten woonden op de heuvel Ofel. Ze stonden onder leiding van Ziha en Gispa.
22 Het hoofd van de Levieten in Jeruzalem was Uzzi, de zoon van Bani, die een zoon was van Hasabja, die een zoon was van Mattanja, die een zoon was van Micha, uit de familie van Asaf. De familie van Asaf deed dienst als zangers in de tempel van God. 23 De koning had bevolen dat ze elke dag zouden krijgen wat ze nodig hadden.
24 Petaja, de zoon van Mesezabeël, uit de familie van Zera, de zoon van Juda, gaf de koning van Perzië raad in alles wat met de Israëlieten te maken had.
De bewoonde steden in Juda
25 In de volgende steden en dorpen waren Judeeërs gaan wonen: in Kirjat-Arba en de dorpen die daarbij hoorden, Dibon en de dorpen die daarbij hoorden, Jekabzeël en de dorpen die daarbij hoorden, 26 Jesua, Molada, Bet-Pelet, 27 Hazar-Sual, Berseba en de dorpen die daarbij hoorden, 28 Ziklag, Mechona en de dorpen die daarbij hoorden, 29 En-Rimmon, Zora, Jarmut, 30 Zanoa, Adullam en de dorpen die daarbij hoorden, Lachis en de velden die daarbij hoorden en Azeka en de dorpen die daarbij hoorden. Ze gingen wonen in de dorpen en steden vanaf Berseba tot aan het Hinnomdal.
31 De mensen uit de stam van Benjamin gingen in de volgende steden en dorpen wonen: Geba, Michmas, Aja, Bet-El en alle dorpen die daarbij hoorden, 32 Anatot, Nob, Ananja, 33 Hazor, Rama, Gittaïm, 34 Hadid, Zeboïm, Neballat, 35 Lod, Ono en het Handwerkersdal.
36 Van de Levieten woonde een aantal in het gebied van de stam van Juda en een aantal in het gebied van de stam van Benjamin.

The New Residents of Jerusalem(A)
11 Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem. The rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten of them to live in Jerusalem,(B) the holy city,(C) while the remaining nine were to stay in their own towns.(D) 2 The people commended all who volunteered to live in Jerusalem.
3 These are the provincial leaders who settled in Jerusalem (now some Israelites, priests, Levites, temple servants and descendants of Solomon’s servants lived in the towns of Judah, each on their own property in the various towns,(E) 4 while other people from both Judah and Benjamin(F) lived in Jerusalem):(G)
From the descendants of Judah:
Athaiah son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, a descendant of Perez; 5 and Maaseiah son of Baruch, the son of Kol-Hozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, a descendant of Shelah. 6 The descendants of Perez who lived in Jerusalem totaled 468 men of standing.
7 From the descendants of Benjamin:
Sallu son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jeshaiah, 8 and his followers, Gabbai and Sallai—928 men. 9 Joel son of Zikri was their chief officer, and Judah son of Hassenuah was over the New Quarter of the city.
10 From the priests:
Jedaiah; the son of Joiarib; Jakin; 11 Seraiah(H) son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub,(I) the official in charge of the house of God, 12 and their associates, who carried on work for the temple—822 men; Adaiah son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malkijah, 13 and his associates, who were heads of families—242 men; Amashsai son of Azarel, the son of Ahzai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer, 14 and his[a] associates, who were men of standing—128. Their chief officer was Zabdiel son of Haggedolim.
15 From the Levites:
Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni; 16 Shabbethai(J) and Jozabad,(K) two of the heads of the Levites, who had charge of the outside work of the house of God; 17 Mattaniah(L) son of Mika, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph,(M) the director who led in thanksgiving and prayer; Bakbukiah, second among his associates; and Abda son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.(N) 18 The Levites in the holy city(O) totaled 284.
19 The gatekeepers:
Akkub, Talmon and their associates, who kept watch at the gates—172 men.
20 The rest of the Israelites, with the priests and Levites, were in all the towns of Judah, each on their ancestral property.
21 The temple servants(P) lived on the hill of Ophel, and Ziha and Gishpa were in charge of them.
22 The chief officer of the Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah,(Q) the son of Mika. Uzzi was one of Asaph’s descendants, who were the musicians responsible for the service of the house of God. 23 The musicians(R) were under the king’s orders, which regulated their daily activity.
24 Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, one of the descendants of Zerah(S) son of Judah, was the king’s agent in all affairs relating to the people.
25 As for the villages with their fields, some of the people of Judah lived in Kiriath Arba(T) and its surrounding settlements, in Dibon(U) and its settlements, in Jekabzeel and its villages, 26 in Jeshua, in Moladah,(V) in Beth Pelet,(W) 27 in Hazar Shual,(X) in Beersheba(Y) and its settlements, 28 in Ziklag,(Z) in Mekonah and its settlements, 29 in En Rimmon, in Zorah,(AA) in Jarmuth,(AB) 30 Zanoah,(AC) Adullam(AD) and their villages, in Lachish(AE) and its fields, and in Azekah(AF) and its settlements. So they were living all the way from Beersheba(AG) to the Valley of Hinnom.
31 The descendants of the Benjamites from Geba(AH) lived in Mikmash,(AI) Aija, Bethel(AJ) and its settlements, 32 in Anathoth,(AK) Nob(AL) and Ananiah, 33 in Hazor,(AM) Ramah(AN) and Gittaim,(AO) 34 in Hadid, Zeboim(AP) and Neballat, 35 in Lod and Ono,(AQ) and in Ge Harashim.
36 Some of the divisions of the Levites of Judah settled in Benjamin.

The People Dwelling Outside Jerusalem
25 And as for the villages with their fields, some of the children of Judah dwelt in (Q)Kirjath Arba and its villages, Dibon and its villages, Jekabzeel and its villages; 26 in Jeshua, Moladah, Beth Pelet, 27 Hazar Shual, and Beersheba and its villages; 28 in Ziklag and Meconah and its villages; 29 in En Rimmon, Zorah, Jarmuth, 30 Zanoah, Adullam, and their villages; in Lachish and its fields; in Azekah and its villages. They dwelt from Beersheba to the Valley of Hinnom.
31 Also the children of Benjamin from Geba dwelt in Michmash, Aija, and Bethel, and their villages; 32 in Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah; 33 in Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim; 34 in Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat; 35 in Lod, Ono, and (R)the Valley of Craftsmen. 36 Some of the Judean divisions of Levites were in Benjamin.
