Nehemiah 1
New King James Version
Nehemiah Prays for His People
1 The words of (A)Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah.
It came to pass in the month of Chislev, in the (B)twentieth year, as I was in (C)Shushan[a] the [b]citadel, 2 that (D)Hanani one of my brethren came with men from Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. 3 And they said to me, “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the (E)province are there in great distress and (F)reproach. (G)The wall of Jerusalem (H)is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.”
4 So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
5 And I said: “I pray, (I)Lord God of heaven, O great and (J)awesome God, (K)You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love [c]You and observe [d]Your commandments, 6 please let Your ear be attentive and (L)Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray before You now, day and night, for the children of Israel Your servants, and (M)confess the sins of the children of Israel which we have sinned against You. Both my father’s house and I have sinned. 7 (N)We have acted very corruptly against You, and have (O)not kept the commandments, the statutes, nor the ordinances which You commanded Your servant Moses. 8 Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, (P)‘If you [e]are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations; 9 (Q)but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, (R)though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.’ 10 (S)Now these are Your servants and Your people, whom You have redeemed by Your great power, and by Your strong hand. 11 O Lord, I pray, please (T)let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant, and to the prayer of Your servants who (U)desire to fear Your name; and let Your servant prosper this day, I pray, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.”
For I was the king’s (V)cupbearer.

2 Samuel 22:16-39
New King James Version
16 Then the channels of the sea (A)were seen,
The foundations of the world were uncovered,
At the (B)rebuke of the Lord,
At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.
17 “He(C) sent from above, He took me,
He drew me out of many waters.
18 He delivered me from my strong enemy,
From those who hated me;
For they were too strong for me.
19 They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
But the Lord was my (D)support.
20 (E)He also brought me out into a broad place;
He delivered me because He (F)delighted in me.
21 “The(G) Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the (H)cleanness of my hands
He has recompensed me.
22 For I have (I)kept the ways of the Lord,
And have not wickedly departed from my God.
23 For all His (J)judgments were before me;
And as for His statutes, I did not depart from them.
24 I was also (K)blameless before Him,
And I kept myself from my iniquity.
25 Therefore (L)the Lord has [a]recompensed me according to my righteousness,
According to [b]my cleanness in His eyes.
26 “With (M)the merciful You will show Yourself merciful;
With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless;
27 With the pure You will show Yourself pure;
And (N)with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd.
28 You will save the (O)humble[c] people;
But Your eyes are on (P)the haughty, that You may bring them down.
29 “For You are my (Q)lamp, O Lord;
The Lord shall enlighten my darkness.
30 For by You I can run against a troop;
By my God I can leap over a (R)wall.
31 As for God, (S)His way is perfect;
(T)The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
32 “For (U)who is God, except the Lord?
And who is a rock, except our God?
33 [d]God is my (V)strength and power,
And He (W)makes [e]my way (X)perfect.
34 He makes [f]my feet (Y)like the feet of deer,
And (Z)sets me on my high places.
35 He teaches my hands [g]to make war,
So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
36 “You have also given me the shield of Your salvation;
Your gentleness has made me great.
37 You (AA)enlarged my path under me;
So my feet did not slip.
38 “I have pursued my enemies and destroyed them;
Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed.
39 And I have destroyed them and wounded them,
So that they could not rise;
They have fallen (AB)under my feet.

Matthew 10:9-15
New King James Version
9 (A)Provide neither gold nor silver nor (B)copper in your money belts, 10 nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; (C)for a worker is worthy of his food.
11 (D)“Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out. 12 And when you go into a household, greet it. 13 (E)If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. (F)But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 (G)And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, (H)shake off the dust from your feet. 15 Assuredly, I say to you, (I)it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!
