Nehemiah 9:22-10:39
New Living Translation
22 “Then you helped our ancestors conquer kingdoms and nations, and you placed your people in every corner of the land.[a] They took over the land of King Sihon of Heshbon and the land of King Og of Bashan. 23 You made their descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and brought them into the land you had promised to their ancestors.
24 “They went in and took possession of the land. You subdued whole nations before them. Even the Canaanites, who inhabited the land, were powerless! Your people could deal with these nations and their kings as they pleased. 25 Our ancestors captured fortified cities and fertile land. They took over houses full of good things, with cisterns already dug and vineyards and olive groves and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate until they were full and grew fat and enjoyed themselves in all your blessings.
26 “But despite all this, they were disobedient and rebelled against you. They turned their backs on your Law, they killed your prophets who warned them to return to you, and they committed terrible blasphemies. 27 So you handed them over to their enemies, who made them suffer. But in their time of trouble they cried to you, and you heard them from heaven. In your great mercy, you sent them liberators who rescued them from their enemies.
28 “But as soon as they were at peace, your people again committed evil in your sight, and once more you let their enemies conquer them. Yet whenever your people turned and cried to you again for help, you listened once more from heaven. In your wonderful mercy, you rescued them many times!
29 “You warned them to return to your Law, but they became proud and obstinate and disobeyed your commands. They did not follow your regulations, by which people will find life if only they obey. They stubbornly turned their backs on you and refused to listen. 30 In your love, you were patient with them for many years. You sent your Spirit, who warned them through the prophets. But still they wouldn’t listen! So once again you allowed the peoples of the land to conquer them. 31 But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are!
32 “And now, our God, the great and mighty and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of unfailing love, do not let all the hardships we have suffered seem insignificant to you. Great trouble has come upon us and upon our kings and leaders and priests and prophets and ancestors—all of your people—from the days when the kings of Assyria first triumphed over us until now. 33 Every time you punished us you were being just. We have sinned greatly, and you gave us only what we deserved. 34 Our kings, leaders, priests, and ancestors did not obey your Law or listen to the warnings in your commands and laws. 35 Even while they had their own kingdom, they did not serve you, though you showered your goodness on them. You gave them a large, fertile land, but they refused to turn from their wickedness.
36 “So now today we are slaves in the land of plenty that you gave our ancestors for their enjoyment! We are slaves here in this good land. 37 The lush produce of this land piles up in the hands of the kings whom you have set over us because of our sins. They have power over us and our livestock. We serve them at their pleasure, and we are in great misery.”
The People Agree to Obey
38 [b]The people responded, “In view of all this,[c] we are making a solemn promise and putting it in writing. On this sealed document are the names of our leaders and Levites and priests.”
10 [d]The document was ratified and sealed with the following names:
The governor:
Nehemiah son of Hacaliah, and also Zedekiah.
2 The following priests:
Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah, 3 Pashhur, Amariah, Malkijah, 4 Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch, 5 Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah, 6 Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch, 7 Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin, 8 Maaziah, Bilgai, and Shemaiah. These were the priests.
9 The following Levites:
Jeshua son of Azaniah, Binnui from the family of Henadad, Kadmiel, 10 and their fellow Levites: Shebaniah, Hodiah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan, 11 Mica, Rehob, Hashabiah, 12 Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah, 13 Hodiah, Bani, and Beninu.
14 The following leaders:
Parosh, Pahath-moab, Elam, Zattu, Bani, 15 Bunni, Azgad, Bebai, 16 Adonijah, Bigvai, Adin, 17 Ater, Hezekiah, Azzur, 18 Hodiah, Hashum, Bezai, 19 Hariph, Anathoth, Nebai, 20 Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir, 21 Meshezabel, Zadok, Jaddua, 22 Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah, 23 Hoshea, Hananiah, Hasshub, 24 Hallohesh, Pilha, Shobek, 25 Rehum, Hashabnah, Maaseiah, 26 Ahiah, Hanan, Anan, 27 Malluch, Harim, and Baanah.
The Vow of the People
28 Then the rest of the people—the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, Temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the pagan people of the land in order to obey the Law of God, together with their wives, sons, daughters, and all who were old enough to understand— 29 joined their leaders and bound themselves with an oath. They swore a curse on themselves if they failed to obey the Law of God as issued by his servant Moses. They solemnly promised to carefully follow all the commands, regulations, and decrees of the Lord our Lord:
30 “We promise not to let our daughters marry the pagan people of the land, and not to let our sons marry their daughters.
31 “We also promise that if the people of the land should bring any merchandise or grain to be sold on the Sabbath or on any other holy day, we will refuse to buy it. Every seventh year we will let our land rest, and we will cancel all debts owed to us.
32 “In addition, we promise to obey the command to pay the annual Temple tax of one-eighth of an ounce of silver[e] for the care of the Temple of our God. 33 This will provide for the Bread of the Presence; for the regular grain offerings and burnt offerings; for the offerings on the Sabbaths, the new moon celebrations, and the annual festivals; for the holy offerings; and for the sin offerings to make atonement for Israel. It will provide for everything necessary for the work of the Temple of our God.
34 “We have cast sacred lots to determine when—at regular times each year—the families of the priests, Levites, and the common people should bring wood to God’s Temple to be burned on the altar of the Lord our God, as is written in the Law.
35 “We promise to bring the first part of every harvest to the Lord’s Temple year after year—whether it be a crop from the soil or from our fruit trees. 36 We agree to give God our oldest sons and the firstborn of all our herds and flocks, as prescribed in the Law. We will present them to the priests who minister in the Temple of our God. 37 We will store the produce in the storerooms of the Temple of our God. We will bring the best of our flour and other grain offerings, the best of our fruit, and the best of our new wine and olive oil. And we promise to bring to the Levites a tenth of everything our land produces, for it is the Levites who collect the tithes in all our rural towns.
38 “A priest—a descendant of Aaron—will be with the Levites as they receive these tithes. And a tenth of all that is collected as tithes will be delivered by the Levites to the Temple of our God and placed in the storerooms. 39 The people and the Levites must bring these offerings of grain, new wine, and olive oil to the storerooms and place them in the sacred containers near the ministering priests, the gatekeepers, and the singers.
“We promise together not to neglect the Temple of our God.”

Gidala mo sila sa yuta nga imong gisaad sa ilang mga katigulangan nga ilang sudlon ug panag-iyahan. 24 Busa gisulod nila kini ug gisakop. Gipapildi mo kanila ang mga Canaanhon nga nagpuyo niadtong yutaa. Gitugyan mo kanila ang mga Canaanhon apil ang ilang mga hari aron himuon nila ang gusto nilang himuon sa mga Canaanhon. 25 Giilog sa imong katawhan ang pinarilan nga mga lungsod ug ang mabungahong mga yuta. Giilog usab nila ang mga balay nga puno sa maayong mga butang, mga atabay, mga ubasan, mga tamnanan sa olibo, ug ang mga punoan sa kahoy nga labihan kadaghan ug prutas. Nangaon sila kutob sa ilang gusto ug nanambok. Nagpakabuhong sila sa imong labihan nga kaayo nga gipakita kanila.
26 “Apan luyo niini, misupak sila ug nagrebelde kanimo. Gitalikdan nila ang imong balaod ug gipatay nila ang imong mga propeta nga mipahimangno kanila aron sa pagpabalik kanila diha kanimo. Labihan gayod ang mga pagpasipala nga ilang gipanghimo! 27 Busa gitugyan mo sila sa ilang mga kaaway nga naglisod-lisod kanila. Apan sa dihang nangayo sila ug tabang kanimo, gipamatian mo pa gihapon sila diha sa langit. Ug sa imong kalooy, gihatagan mo silag mga pangulo nga miluwas kanila gikan sa kamot sa ilang mga kaaway.
28 “Apan kon maayo na ang ilang kahimtang, nagahimo na usab sila ug daotan sa imong atubangan. Unya gitugyan mo na usab sila sa kamot sa ilang mga kaaway aron dumalahan sila. Apan kon mangayo na usab sila sa imong tabang, mamati ka gihapon kanila diha sa langit. Ug sa imong kalooy ginaluwas mo sila kanunay. 29 Gipahimangnoan mo sila aron motuman sila pagbalik sa imong Kasugoan. Apan nagmagahi sila ug wala nila tumana ang imong mga sugo. Nagpakasala sila batok sa imong mga sugo nga nagahatag ug tinuod nga kinabuhi sa nagatuman niini. Sa kagahi sa ilang mga ulo mitalikod sila kanimo, ug nagdumili sa pagpamati kanimo. 30 Sulod sa daghang mga katuigan gipasensyahan mo sila ug gipahimangnoan sa imong Espiritu pinaagi sa mga propeta. Apan wala sila manumbaling. Busa gitugyan mo sila sa mga katawhan sa ilang palibot. 31 Apan bisan pa niini, tungod sa dako mong kalooy, wala mo sila pasagdi o laglaga sa hingpit, kay maloloy-on ka nga Dios ug puno sa grasya.
32 “Ikaw nga among Dios makagagahom, katingalahan, ug talahuron. Ginatuman mo ang imong kasabotan, ug ginapakita mo ang imong gugma. Karon, ayaw ipakawalay-bili ang among mga pag-antos. Nagaantos kami ug ang among mga hari, mga pangulo, mga pari, mga propeta, ug mga katigulangan, gikan pa sa panahon nga gidaog-daog kami sa mga hari sa Asiria hangtod karon. 33 Matarong ang gihimo mong pagsilot kanamo. Nagmatinud-anon gayod ikaw kanamo, apan kami nagpakasala. 34 Ang among mga hari, mga pangulo, mga pari, ug mga katigulangan wala motuman sa imong Kasugoan. Wala sila magtagad sa imong mga sugo ug mga pahimangno. 35 Bisan aduna silay kaugalingong gingharian ug nakasinati sa imong dakong kaayo, ug bisan gihatagan mo sila sa halapad ug mabungahong yuta, wala gihapon sila moalagad kanimo o mobiya sa ilang daotang mga binuhatan. 36 Mao nga karon nangaulipon kami dinhi niining yuta nga imong gihatag sa among mga katigulangan, diin makakaon unta sila sa mga abot niini ug makapahimulos sa uban pang mga kaayohan niini. 37 Ang abunda nga mga abot sa yuta atua paingon sa mga hari nga gipadumala mo kanamo tungod sa among mga sala. Gihimo nila ang ilang gustong himuon kanamo ug sa among mga kahayopan. Ug labihan ang among pag-antos.”
Naghimo ug Kasabotan ang mga Tawo
38 “Tungod niining tanan, kaming mga Judio naghimo ug usa ka lig-ong kasabotan. Gisulat kini ug giselyohan sa among mga pangulo, mga pari, ug mga Levita.”
10 Ang unang mibutang sa iyang selyo mao si Gobernador Nehemias nga anak ni Hacalia, ug si Zedekia.
2-8 Ang mga pari nga mibutang sa ilang selyo mao sila si Seraya, Azaria, Jeremias, Pashur, Amaria, Malkia, Hatush, Shebania, Maluc, Harim, Meremot, Obadia, Daniel, Gineton, Baruc, Meshulam, Abia, Miamin, Maazia, Bilgai, ug Shemaya.

Ug matag ikapito ka tuig, dili gayod namo tamnan ang among yuta, ug dili na kami maningil sa mga utang sa uban.
32 Misaad pa gayod kami nga tumanon namo ang sugo nga maghatag kami matag tuig ug upat ka gramo nga pilak alang sa buluhaton sa templo sa among Dios. 33 Gastohon kini alang sa pan nga ihalad sa presensya sa Dios, sa mga halad nga sinunog, ug mga halad isip pagpasidungog sa Ginoo nga ginahalad adlaw-adlaw, sa mga halad alang sa Adlaw nga Igpapahulay, alang sa Pista sa Pagsugod sa Bulan, ug sa uban pang mga pista. Alang usab kini sa uban pang mga halad nga balaan sama sa halad sa paghinlo nga ginahalad aron matubos ang katawhan sa Israel sa ilang mga sala. Gamiton usab kini alang sa uban pang mga kinahanglanon sa buluhaton sa templo sa among Dios.
34 Kaming mga katawhan, apil ang among mga pari ug ang mga Levita, nagripa aron mahibaloan namo kon kanus-a magdalag sugnod ang matag pamilya matag tuig alang sa mga halad sa halaran sa Ginoo nga among Dios, sumala sa nahisulat sa Kasugoan.
35 Misaad usab kami nga dad-on namo sa templo sa Ginoo matag tuig ang unang abot sa among uma ug ang unang bunga sa among mga tanom. 36 Dad-on usab namo sa mga pari nga nagaalagad sa templo sa among Dios ang among kamagulangang mga anak nga lalaki, apil usab ang kamagulangan sa among mga baka, karnero, ug kanding, sumala sa nahisulat sa Kasugoan.
37 Misaad pa gayod kami nga dad-on namo sa mga pari didto sa bodega sa templo sa among Dios ang labing maayong klase sa harina ug ang uban pang mga halad isip pagpasidungog sa Ginoo. Dad-on usab namo ang among labing maayong mga prutas, ug ang labing maayong bag-o nga bino, ug lana nga olibo. Dad-on usab namo sa mga Levita ang ikapulo sa among mga abot, kay sila ang nagapangolekta sa mga ikapulo sa tanang mga lungsod nga may mga uma. Kon mangolekta sa mga ikapulo ang mga Levita, 38 ubanan sila sa pari nga kaliwat ni Aaron. Ug ang ikapulo nga bahin sa makolekta dad-on sa mga Levita sa bodega sa templo sa among Dios. 39 Ang mga Israelinhon, apil na ang mga Levita, kinahanglang magdala ug mga halad nga trigo, bag-ong bino, ug lana didto sa bodega diin gibutang ang mga kagamitan sa templo ug diin nagapuyo ang mga pari nga nagaalagad, ang mga guwardya sa mga pultahan sa templo, ug ang mga mag-aawit.
Busa misaad kami nga dili namo pasagdan ang templo sa among Dios.
