34 Our kings, our princes, our priests, and our fathers have not kept your law or paid attention to your commandments and your warnings that you gave them. 35 Even in their own kingdom, (A)and amid your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and (B)rich land that you set before them, (C)they did not serve you or turn from their wicked works. 36 Behold, (D)we are slaves this day; in the land that you gave to our fathers to enjoy its fruit and its good gifts, behold, we are slaves.

34 Our kings,(A) our leaders, our priests and our ancestors(B) did not follow your law; they did not pay attention to your commands or the statutes you warned them to keep. 35 Even while they were in their kingdom, enjoying your great goodness(C) to them in the spacious and fertile land you gave them, they did not serve you(D) or turn from their evil ways.
36 “But see, we are slaves(E) today, slaves in the land you gave our ancestors so they could eat its fruit and the other good things it produces.
