²⁵ Palal the son of Uzai made repairs in front of the Angle and the tower projecting from the upper house of the king, which is by ^(A)the court of the guard. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh made repairs.

² Now at that time the military force of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the ^(A)court of the guard, which was in the house of the king of Judah,

²¹ Then King Zedekiah gave commandment, and they committed Jeremiah to the ^(A)court of the guard and gave him a loaf of ^(B)bread daily from the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city had ^(C)come to an end. So Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

⁶ Then they took Jeremiah and cast him into the ^[a](A)cistern of Malchijah the king’s son, which was in the court of the guard; and they let Jeremiah down with ropes. Now in the cistern there was no water but only ^(B)mire, and Jeremiah sank into the mire.

¹⁴ they even sent and ^(A)took Jeremiah out of the court of the guard and gave him over to ^(B)Gedaliah, the son of ^(C)Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him home. So he stayed among the people.

¹⁵ Now the word of Yahweh had come to Jeremiah while he was ^(D)confined in the court of the guard, saying,

³⁵ he said, “I will give you a hearing after your ^(A)accusers arrive also,” giving orders for him to be ^(B)kept in Herod’s ^[a]Praetorium.

²⁷ But after two years had passed, Felix ^[a]was succeeded by Porcius ^(A)Festus, and ^(B)wishing to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul ^(C)imprisoned.

¹⁶ And when we entered Rome, Paul was ^(A)allowed to stay by himself, with the soldier who was guarding him.

³⁰ And he stayed two full years ^[a]in his own rented quarters and was welcoming all who came to him,
