³⁵ Even in their own kingdom, ^(A)and amid your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and ^(B)rich land that you set before them, ^(C)they did not serve you or turn from their wicked works.

^47 (A)Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and gladness of heart, because of the abundance of all things,

¹⁹ And when your people say, ^(A)‘Why has the Lord our God done all these things to us?’ you shall say to them, ‘As you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, ^(B)so you shall serve foreigners in a land that is not yours.’”

⁴ By no means! ^(A)Let God be true though ^(B)every one were a liar, as it is written,

⁵ But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unrighteous to inflict ^(E)wrath on us? (^(F)I speak in a human way.)

²⁵ And they captured ^(A)fortified cities and ^(B)a rich land, and took possession of ^(C)houses full of all good things, cisterns already hewn, vineyards, olive orchards and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate and were filled ^(D)and became fat and delighted themselves in ^(E)your great goodness.

²¹ And when many evils and troubles have come upon them, this song shall confront them as ^(A)a witness (for it will live unforgotten in the mouths of their offspring). For ^(B)I know what they are inclined to do even today, before I have brought them into the land that I swore to give.”

⁷ For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, ^(A)a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing out in the valleys and hills, ⁸ a land of wheat and barley, ^(B)of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey, ⁹ a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper. ¹⁰ And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.
