¹⁹ you ^(A)in your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. ^(B)The pillar of cloud to lead them in the way did not depart from them by day, ^(C)nor the pillar of fire by night to light for them the way by which they should go.

^27 (A)Therefore you gave them into the hand of their enemies, who made them suffer. ^(B)And in the time of their suffering they cried out to you and you heard them from heaven, and according to your great mercies you gave them ^(C)saviors who saved them from the hand of their enemies.

Robbing God

⁶ “For ^(A)I the Lord do not change; ^(B)therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.

¹² By ^(A)a pillar of cloud you led them in the day, and by a pillar of fire in the night to light for them the way in which they should go.

^18 (A)O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see ^(B)our desolations, and ^(C)the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy.

^9 (A)To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him

¹⁴ and they will tell the inhabitants of this land. ^(A)They have heard that you, O Lord, are in the midst of this people. For you, O Lord, are seen face to face, and ^(B)your cloud stands over them and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.

Warning Against Idolatry

10 For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers,^[a] that our fathers were all under ^(A)the cloud, and all ^(B)passed through the sea, ² and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,

^22 (A)But I withheld my hand ^(B)and acted for the sake of my name, ^(C)that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out.
