^7 (A)Also Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, the Levites,^{[a] (B)}helped the people to understand the Law, ^(C)while the people remained in their places.

⁴ On the stairs of the Levites stood ^(A)Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani; and they cried with a loud voice to the Lord their God.

¹¹ and ^(A)you are to teach the people of Israel all the statutes that the Lord has spoken to them by Moses.”

²³ After them Benjamin and Hasshub repaired opposite their house. After them Azariah the son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah repaired beside his own house.

²² Of the sons of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasah.

²³ Of the Levites: Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah (that is, Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

⁷ For ^(A)the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people^[a] should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.

⁴¹ and the priests Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, ^(A)with trumpets; ⁴² and Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang with Jezrahiah as their leader.

³³ and Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam,

²⁴ And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and ^(A)Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers who stood opposite them, ^(B)to praise and to give thanks, ^(C)according to the commandment of David ^(D)the man of God, ^(E)watch by watch. ²⁵ Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were gatekeepers standing guard at ^(F)the storehouses of the gates.

¹⁹ The gatekeepers, Akkub, Talmon and their brothers, who kept watch at the gates, were 172.
