² So Ezra the priest brought ^(A)the Law before the assembly of men and women and all who could hear with understanding ^(B)on the first day of the seventh month.

²⁴ “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the ^(A)seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, ^(B)a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.

Offerings at the Feast of Trumpets^(A)

29 ‘And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work. For you ^(B)it is a day of blowing the trumpets.

²¹ For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, ^(A)being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

The Law to Be Read Every Seven Years

⁹ So Moses wrote this law ^(A)and delivered it to the priests, the sons of Levi, ^(B)who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel. ¹⁰ And Moses commanded them, saying: “At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the ^(C)year of release, ^(D)at the Feast of Tabernacles, ¹¹ when all Israel comes to ^(E)appear before the Lord your God in the ^(F)place which He chooses, ^(G)you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing. ^12 (H)Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the stranger who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn to fear the Lord your God and carefully observe all the words of this law, ¹³ and that their children, ^(I)who have not known it, ^(J)may hear and learn to fear the Lord your God as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess.”

¹⁸ “Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, from the one ^(A)before the priests, the Levites.

⁷ Also in the third year of his reign he sent his leaders, Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Michaiah, ^(A)to teach in the cities of Judah. ⁸ And with them he sent Levites: Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah—the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests. ^9 (B)So they taught in Judah, and had the Book of the Law of the Lord with them; they went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught the people.
